View Full Version : Xbox, PS2 or PC?

I´ve got a PS2 and I´m not the world´s leading computer expert. In fact, i know virtually nothing about things "normal" pc-simmers know about computers, but I WANT to play PURE simgames. I do have Rally Trophy on my pc (great) but no steering wheel and I don´t dare to go into the files or anything like that. Do you think the game(s) released on the Xbox will be any different from the same game on a PS2, or even a PC? Of course I´m thinking of CMR3 and Race Driver, as I´m thinking of buying an Xbox if it´s more "PC-like" and developed to play sims. Any replies are greatly appreciated.

P.S Anyone know if it´s possible to play PC-games on an Xbox?

Well graphically, the X-Box will probably be the best, with the PS2 closely following. PC will of course be graphically superb, but you'll have to have a pretty high spec machine to get it to X-Box level.

X-Box games are usually more PC like than PS2, but unless you were to do something illegal, I don't think you can play PC games on your X-Box.

The core gameplay will be the same on all three platforms - i.e. the PC game will not be any more "sim-like" than the PS2/X-Box version

Ok, it will be released for PC too then???

If I look at product status for CMR3 on the CodeM site I can only see the PS2 and XBOX....
Hope that is not true...
Most gamers have their equipment up-to-date anyway these days...

PC release?

well, grand prix 4 is heading over to the x-box, so if that's anything to go by, i think we will see more sim oriented games on the box than any other console.

Which console is more sim oreinted? Lets see, Xbox best racing games are Ralisport Challenge and Project Gotham Racing. Both of which are considered to be more arcade like. On the other hand you have the PS2 with TONS of racing games with sims like GT3, WRC, several F1 games and many others. Xbox will be getting Sega GT 2 and if it plays anything like Sega GT on the DC then its nothing to look forward too. Did you consider which console has a USB true force feedback steering wheel? Does Xbox have a wheel at all? I like my xbox and games fine enough but as a racing fan I love my PS2.

Seems like for the hardcore sim fan, the PC is the only way to go. The number of controller options, the "hackibility" of the programs, and the fine amount of control someone can have over their hardware and software setup means that the PC will have this advantage for some time.

However, with that said - consoles are great for people who want to be able to invest a little and get a lot of performance back. But again, hardcore sim guys will go elsewhere.

One good case in point is with games like Rally Trophy, where people are hacking the config files and creating Pace Note editors, etc.

Sure, I agree that a PC is the best, but if you want a good PC you have to be loaded (I´m a student). Plus, hardware isn´t too complicated for me, but all these software settings with files and thousands of numbers make me confused I´m afraid. But I´m picking it up slowly but surely...

I'll play this on Ps2- I can't be bothered to be throwing money at my PC and I don't want an X-Box.
