It's a bit old but still more or less valid: lvl 50 armour topic. (http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=203040)

Add in Doom-hunter and Armour of the Aurochs sets and that's pretty much it still. There's also a good post on the US forums by shad0wfax (http://forums.lotro.com/showpost.php?p=1346224&postcount=63) which is mostly made of a bit easier-to-get-items but still ends up as quite good overall. Not much cool-factor like in the class sets but very cost and time efficient.

There are some items in book 11 that should be saved, Angmarim-stalker cloak and Feredilloch earring atleast in case you start experimenting later on. Personally, I didn't and it sucks.

Note also that not all of the "recommended stuff" are easy to get, most really aren't, so you really want tips you might want to tell us what's your current gear and what are you planing on doing next. There are some nice drops and quests rewards that easily last you through the tedious hunt of better ones (if that's what you're into).

Hmm... I guess that's roughly it. :)

Edit: both links are missing some really rare but awesome items which I can add later on if anyone wants to see.

nice post thanks.

When you see the phrase 'end game' in a game that has no end and indeed has only just started it doesn't really make sense, especially when you also consider some peoples idea of 'end game' differs, E.G just hit 50 or compleated book 10 started 11 and/or started raiding.

shad0wfax's post is fantastic and gives an idea of things to aim for, however there are alternatives out there and other items of interest espcially if you don't want to see yourself coming and going or want a different RP style.

http://lotro.mmodb.com/ is a great data base for information on armour etc
