View Full Version : WRC 2002
I don't know if you guys have seen it, but some folks are preparing a 2002 mod for CMR 2. It will include new (and very realistic) 3d models, 2002 textures, sounds, cockpits (hopefully), menus, etc. It looks very promising, and seems that it will give the game new life! It has only just started, but from what I hear it's developing pretty fast. You can check it out here (http://www.mitch.racesim.net/wrc2002mod/main.htm)
Sweet. I've already got the Burns WRC model on the Impreza, would much rather have Tommi's #10 555. Whoo hoo!

Im one of the guys behind that mod. Im Niklas.
I am doing the skin for the Subaru Impreza.
We are using photos to complete very detailed textures.
I will do the 555 Subaru.
yeah it's our mod, i'm making the 3d models for the focus, xsara, octavia, 206 and possibly evo7. GrahamN is making the impreza and the accent. i'll skin most of them too. i hope niklas does a good job with the impreza :D
PS: i hope i don't get into legal trouble about this...

I'm guessing this will only be for the PC. Would have been nice for the Playstation too, but I guess we'll all have to wait until CMR3 appears.
By the way, is this officially endorsed by Codemasters? Are there any rules about modifying games in such a way?

There's no way to modify a PS game. And I don't think there is anything against modifying a game as long as you don't distribute it for money. I have several games that have mods and total conversions on them. And they are all free, the mods that is.
the mod is for free, so i think i won't get any problems.
the final product will be very special, with new intro movies, new menus, new sounds, new carshapes, new textures and more little things. everything will be downloaded separatly. you can download a specific car without downloading the whole mod. i would like to get a car done in 3 weeks time. one week till the end of my exams and two weeks to finish the car (i hope i finish the car sooner). the whole thing should be complete in a couple of months if everything goes well. there are only two 3d modelers but the 3d models are almost complete. texturing is the hardest part.
hope you guys like our work, cause we're spending a lot of time and effort into it :D

I'm sure we will Mitch. I can't wait for it to be done. I wish there were some way I could help but I know nothing about 3D modeling, texturing, new sounds or anything like that so I guess I just get to sit around and be amazed by you and your team's work.

Happy Birthday Mitch!! http://www.cardmaster.com/Birthdays/images/f_red.gif
Can u not copy the cd for playstation on harddrive then modthe data and rewrite to cd??
I don't think so Cartman as this would mean that the new CD would only be able to be read by a PC - I'm not sure, but I think playstation cds have a special thing which defines them as playstation cds. Or something. Definitely maybe. Or not, as the case may be. Possibly.
the psx version is NOT in my plans.
errr first of all i do not have a playstation.
second: you need a special chip to make the playstation read normal cds (illegal)
third: i do not know if the file format is the same.
forth: how would i distribute that?
i think i've made it clear...
having the chipp is not illegal niether is making a personal back up copy of games.#Selling them as games IS!!
