Below is the most current list of all ideas for colin mcrae rally 3. Lets hope codemasters read over these and take a few in. From the 40 posts so far and the countless more ideas found inside each post, I would have to say most of them would fit well into a game. Keep them coming, because the more post the better.
Dont forget with the headline system it is easy to filter out what you dont want to read. So take advantage of it :-)

I have a few ideas that should improve CMR3:
===============================
1) more rallies (the best would be a full rally season), longer stages
2) PLAYER SHOUDN'T HAVE to finish at least 6th to start next rally, let us to retire when car is seriously damaged and can't be repaired
3) more realistic damages:
a) I think that collision with a big tree or a house should end the race or really seriously damage a car, like in the real word
b) tire damages, like in real world and off-course player should be able to change tire on a stage
c) wheel damages (like in RC2000) - I mean that player could loose a wheel and drive w/o it
d) BREAKABLE fences and plastic ATA-bands.
4) as someone said before - dynamic co-driver
5) career mode
6) let us choose a number on the car or set it to a final position number - I mean if I finish season 1st I should have #1 on my car
7) Cars 1 minute in front of you, and one minute after you
8) Realistic service-area
I don't care I'll have to pay more for a 3CD game. I want to play real rally simulation with more tracks, cars, possibilities.
Regards,
Mitchell

I think the most important is to make a long game.....
===============================
I think the most important is to make a long game. So it should be great if it was :
-licence as in gran turismo 3
-level (track ?) editor
-a lot of cars (different version of the cars, for exemple 2 or 3 ford focus (it's my car and don't forget that we want a simulation (people have say this before, and I agree with them)
So try to make a lot of original things, as a variable weather, a view in the "cockpit", and why not a extremmely developed (humhum) "carriere" mode, where you begin in little cars.
Ok it's all, excuse my english but i'm french, so i don't speak well english ...

Some my ideas...
===============================
-Real Engine failure
-Electric Failure (real ones, not just a message like in CMR2)
-Power Steering failure (it will be fun on FF Wheels!!!)
-Fatal car crash
-Flat Tires (it happens in reality, why it shouldn't in a game?!)
-Narrow Tracks(many ppl already said that!)
-Realistic Handling
-Let us to turn on/off the lights
-Real night stages, not like in CMR2!!!
when you start the stage in dark and
after driving 2km it's already morning.
NIGHT IS NIGHT!!! please make it real...
-Longer stages. At least 10km please
(no more 5&2km stages like in CMR2)
-Make stages more bumpy and more dangerous

All 14 official WRC rounds should exist in CMR3
===============================
Someone here asked about FIA licence?!I would really like having all 14 countries in CMR 3 too!All the drivers ... That would be fantastic - feeling like in the real Championship.This does not mean necessary having FIA agreement,does it?

===============================
I have for many years now been playing Geoff Crammonds F1 games, GP2 and Gp3. Those games are SIMULATORS, simply pure realism...
CMR has always been to much arcade game for me, but now I´ve heard that u maybe planning on doing CMR3 a true simulator? It´s about time u do that, I want a pure simulator where u have the highest realism and very little arcade feeling, things that u MUST consider if the SIMCOMMUNITY are going to buy this game are this:
* Damage - Realistics, even little stones can be VERy big problems when the speeds are high so make it very sensetive for any type of damage.
EVERYTHING must be able to brake, loos and to be disfunctional. U cant hit a maountin and just get a little mark on the side of the car!
*Driving - If u are making a sim u must make the game to be very accurate to a real rallycar, the feeling in the curbs, feeling in the gearbox, EVERYTHING must be very realistics for the REAL SIM GAMERS to accept the game, this is where u need to have technical help from a REAL rally team. This is where the game either becomes a little racing game that 12 year old kids play or a true SIMULATOR that the worlds best simracers play, it´s up to you.
*Sound - Not so much to say about the sound, just make it as realistics a spossible, the importiantt hings is that u can hear other cars, the crowd, the engine ROAR like hell. The rocks crashing to the car the turbo sounds when shifting etc.
*Multiplayer - Online racing, LAN and a GOOD way for people to start offline leagues on the internet is a DEMAND.
*Speed - When you are driving in the forest at 160 km/h u MUST feel like u are driving in 160 not 60 km/h... Look at Rally Championship 2000 it has VERY good speedfeeling. Of course this all depends on the computer you are using but try to make it as good as possible.
*Graphics - Not so importiant in a sim, of course its VERY NICE with high graphics but in a sim its the FEELING that will make this game either a crap game or a superb game.
*Setup - Wont say anything more than: Look att GRAND PRIX 3!!!! Perfect! a true sim has MANY options, an arcade game has very few, like CMR1 and 2... :/
What ever you do, please DONT HAVE ANY MUSIC IN THE GAME, just in the menus, either to arcadish. (if we want to we can always play SEGA championship in our gameroom in the city)
Thatss about it i think, rembember the FEELING and THE cars realistics.

Recce Drive shakedown and transport
===============================
Another BIG detail: Recce Drive!!!
RCX have that detail. And the WRC-teams are using that.
First you run the stages slow and write down notes. (you can run notes from the last year)
Then you drive it again and cheking that the notes are right.
That will be a great detail in the game. To load notes before the stage or write new ones.
One Shakedown stage should be before the rally starts. Just test the car and remember the technique.
Please Codemasters. Make the game so you do every thing that Coln Mcrae does. Tests, Recce, Shakedown, Drives (transport and rally) and service.
If you do it would be the best game ever!

Simple, make CMR 3.0 a sim
===============================
And here we go again: BREAKABLE fences and plastic ATA-bands.
This is easy to implement, so please give us this. We've waited several years for this feature!!
* Narrow roads
* SIM, remember we want a sim, not an arcade!
* Heavier damage model (realistic please)
* Cars 1 minute in front of you, and one minute after you.
* Realistic service-area.
* I would love to have a full simulation mode where you drive between the stages too.
* Damage effect the cars performance.
+ more that makes this a sim. Look at all developers that doesn't make sims, their projects ends with a fiasko! For example: RCX, V-Rally2 + more.

Hyundai Accent WRC, and more tracks please
===============================
I think that the thing where you have to finish in the top six should be scrapped because then you could have retirements.
The Hyundai Accent WRC should be in the game i am learning to drive in a 2000 Hyundai Accent and was very disapointed that it was not in the game.And dont forget Skoda and Citreon.
More Rallies would be nice where was Monaco in the last game.
I always loved Monaco a mix of snow ice and tarmac

Dramatic camera work, roll, pitch, shake, ect in replays.
===============================
Hello, I read that the WRC game would have amateur footage-like replays, and that would be nice, if you e.g. go off or roll or something dramatic, you should be able to see it in the replay through a amateur camera. But it shouldn´t be all shaky so you can´t see it, but you know, kind of blurry(not much though)and only the sound of the car, no bloody music. That would be cool, first you see a corner a couple of seconds while you hear the car coming close and closer, and then all you see is a car rolling down into the trees and the whole place becomes all quiet . And it would be fun to be able to drive on the transport-stages aswell, and when you pass the finish of a stage, the car shouldn´t stop all by itself. You should slow it down yourself snd drive it to the timecar or whatever it´s called. Codemasters probably think the game might not sell as well if it is a simulation, but if they include a arcade style, or like CMR2, aswell so that the arcaders and inexperienced players could play it without sacrifising months, everybody would happy. Right?

Suspension damage system to be looked over?
===============================
I think we need a realistic damage model. Little thinks like crashing into a big rock should knacker the suspension and perhaps force u to retire (depending on the damage caused).

Here are some more (9 to count)
===============================
* To make CMR3 more like rally I suggest the difficulty level should be based more on how easy the car gets broken. Not so much on how good the other drivers are, but that is also important.
If you guys do like that, the player can't only drive like a maniac and win. The car gets broken and he has to retire or continue but the car is very slow and hard to drive. He has to drive like in real rally. Fast, but take the turns in the right way.
* If you drive into a tree the cooler gets broke, like in CMR2, the car overheats and if it isn't a service stop after the stage, then on next stage or on the way to the next stage the car dies and the player have to retire.
* And if you drive on the side of the road, maybe there is a stone or a bump, that you don't see and are not in the notes. The suspension or the gearbox gets broken and the car looses speed and acceleration, maybe the gearbox gets stucked in a gear. If it's gets really bad a tire can get broke or gets loose from the car. Thats nice i think.
* Transportation between the stages, and helicopters that flies and photograph the rally cars. So I can be able to see it fly by and other photographers that stands on the side of the road, with other spectators (not only flat pictures, moving people), when I am driving.
* And later after the stage when I can see how I drove, a better helicopter camera angle with helicopter-sound in the background are a good idea and I should being able to look how the other drivers drive, and when I am ready I press enter and I see the car travel to the next stage (maybe on the loading screen?).
* On a nightstage I think that the cars should have extra beamlights. Some spectators should have reflexes on there clothes. Photo flashes are nice too on a night stage or on the day.
* And some real important point is, real rally sound on the cars.
* The cars are very real, already in CMR2, so on that point you don't have to do much.
* Another point that will make CMR3 more bigger is an option to make and design own stages. One way is to drag a line how the way should go, then choose in what country the stage should be, then place out objects like houses, rocks, gates and other stuff that is possible to be on the side of the road or in the air like birds and helicopters. Then you can save the stage. And then load it in from a special place in the menu.

A few ideas I have come up with for CMR3
===============================
- Narrow roads: real rally drivers cannot go as fast as in-game because if they crash they'll destroy the car and get hurt... so the game should have narrow roads to make us gamers go slower.
- Dirt on the car: CMR1 was way better with car effects... I suggest a particle effect where the cars get mud (not the same mud bit 100x but dynamic mud) that washes away whith rain and water splashes. Dust that slowly covers the car - between stages some parts of the car (maybe the number and some sponsors) can appear washed by the drivers or mechanics. only when the game has an assistance (where the car is fixed) can the car get totally washed. - a fact in real rallying.
how about some bugs and mosquitos in the windshield (i know... disgusting isn't it?) - way cool effect - requires the use of the wipers (is this the word?).
- Catching up other cars: if we're too fast or slow other cars may appear (in rallying the cars race with a minute or so between them)
- People watching the rally: They could be 3d - though not necessary; move around; take photos; have umbrellas when it rains (duhh); run away from the acr if it crashes or runs wide; make noises (cheering); help turn the car when it flips over (yeah it could take some time but that's rallying); and more
- Limits of the track: NO MORE STUPID BUSH AND PLASTIC STRIPS BARRIERS!!! C'mon game developers think on something a little bit more realistic... like a BIG world for us to wonder around.
- Gameplay: I think that the all-throtle technique is absolutely ridiculous in terms of realism... I want to use the brakes also. The car should also break a lot more (as said above). Retirement is a MUST if we crash the car too badly.
- Co-driver: Dynamic co-driver is an idea that could be developed. Imagine the game can understand your driving methods and optimize the co-driver calls for you!!
He should also say something about our performance (based on the time tables) or warn us of problems with the car - flat tires, overheating etc..
- Fixing the car between stages: the time to fix a part should be proportional to its damage. Sometimes the mechanics can't rebuild the car's body and use adesive tapes to "glue" the broken parts.
- Tire realism: the CMR2 tires look like metallic floors... some more texture quality please. and rounder tires.
- Car Models: please make this not a pre determined number. We want to be able to add as many cars as we want! so that should NOT be a pre determined number! 3d and texture editor/plugins should be provided by codemasters to give the game a new "boost". Ahh i almost forgot: 3d drivers are recommended - the CMR2 half body drivers look terrible.

A down to earth idea, for controller input.

After playing WRC on ps2 I got annoyed how my ffb wheel was supported in gt3 (ps2 ok) and wasn't in wrc. This can be fixed using a generalised controller config. As found in GT3.

I wish for an improved driving model in the third installment of colin mcrae rally.
===============================
I'd hardly call CMR2's physics model "brilliant". To me, it feels like the model isn't based on emulating 4 wheels touching the ground, attached to suspension, etc. etc.
It feels more to me like the car is pivoting on one point, with feelers for surface conditions.
Don't get me wrong, I love CMR2, but I would like to see them concentrate on improving the driving model.

Following a suggestion for a race option menu. I think with such race options can every player create a perfect rally for himself!
===============================
Following a suggestion for a race option menu. I think with such race options can every player (child also as a sim fan) create a perfect rally for himself.
rally mode select: time trail - single stage - single rally - CHAMPIONSHIP - own championship ?
championship: NEW GAME - load a saved game
number of players: ONE - two - three - four
select a player: play as guest - LOAD PLAYER PROFIL - create a new player profil
type of car: WRC - group n - super 1600
wrc: peugeot - FORD - mitsubishi - subaru - skoda - hyundai - citroen
ford drivers: 4 sainz - 5 MCRAE - 6 märtin (name can be edit in a own editor)
difficulty: novice - amateur - intermediate - PROFI - expert
number of stage: 4 (one day) - 8 (two days) - 12 (three days) - DOUBLE (three days, every day 4x2 = 8 stage!)
weather: REALISTIC - sunny - cloudy - rain - variable
damage: off - small - REALISTIC
technical failures: off - small - REALISTIC
car setup: automatic - simple - EXTENSIVE
transmission: automatic - MANUAL
co-driver language: ENGLISH (grist!) - german - france - italy - ..........
break assistance: OFF - small - on
steering assistance: OFF - small - on
skid assistance: OFF - small - on
The players name from the "players profile" should be only in the high score list. In the game (result) should be the drivers name(McRae,Sainz....).
Maybe it is possible to create a "own championship"? If in CMR3 are only 8 rallies, you can select some rally double to get 14 rallies like in the real championship.

Having a neutral gear would be a nice touch!
===============================
A little suggestion to the manual gear change. When you come in CMR2 in the sixth gear to a hairpin and you gear down very quickly into the first gear, it is possible to be in the reverse gear when you gear down once to often.
Make between the first gear and the reverse gear a neutral position. Or you must press the "gear down" button for a longer time to get the reverse gear ?

Increase realism threw harder times, retirement and better car physics
===============================
In CMR2 are only three difficulty levels. In the second you can win the championshop with a WRC. But in the third level you need a strong bonus car to win. In the third level I can win only the Sweden rally with a WRC. But I want to drive only with the current rally cars (WRC, group N and super 1600). There should be more levels in CMR3, maybe four or five. So it will be simple for any player to find his personal level.
Also should be the strong of the cars and drivers realistic. Some drivers or cars are only strong on tarmac, other only on gravel or snow. And some drivers and cars are strong on all conditions. In some rallies Michelin tyres are stronger and in some rallies Pirelli tyres are stronger.
On this way will be in CMR3 more different results as in CMR2. In CMR2 allways (most) was Colin McRae or the player the winner.
But to get a real exiting championship it must be possible to have a retirement (player and other drivers). So many people in this forum want this feature, but I never read a answer for this.

I would be cool to have a "Challenge mode" like in GT3 (license test, ect)
===============================
There could be a "challenge mode" in CMR 3 like in the PS2 games Gran Tourismo 3 (license test), Moto GP or F1 2001 EA. When you pass a challange you get cheats, bonus tracks or bonus cars. On this way in the game self is no arcade feature.

I played CMR 2 a lot and here are my thoughts to what must be added or edited.
===============================
1) Animations. Yes they are a good idea... for first 10 to 20 times you wach them and then you got frustrated of them, because you got to wach the same thing over and over again. If there will be animations there should bee a way to swich them off.
2) Recce. It's useless, because you have a time trial, where driver can learn stages. But instead there could be a option to EDIT PACE NOTES. In CMR 2 was lots of places where I kept crashing again and again, because of uncorrect pace notes.
3) Setup. Car setup in CMR 2 was perfect, not too simple and not too hard. Most of people don't work in wheel aligment shop and don't know a thing about camber, toe in, toe out, gearbox ratios and other specific things. And they don't need to. Let's think that big setup is alredy made in preseasons testing and all we need is to make those little adjustments to suit particular conditions. This is need to keep competition fear to those who don't understand advanced car setup as well (like me).
4) Damage. I think, that damage should be divided in three categories: No damage, Arcade and Simulation. In arcade mode you can damage the car, but cannot brake it completly (like in CMR 2). In simulation you can actually brake your car. Examples. Crashed in tree head-on: broke intercooler and radiator (white smoke from the hood), engine and turbo starts to overheat (black smoke from the exsaust) and loose power (and if indicator on dashboard reacts accordingly it's superb!) and if you keep going too hard too long it stops completley (race over). Headlamps should be destroyable too; Crashed in the rock/timber: in CMR 2 it was like crashing in the wall. Instead, depending on speed, wheel should come off or got damaged; When gearbox breaks you should loose a gears or got stuck in one gear; When brakes are damaged, under braking, car will pull to side. If damage is severe front or rear brakes should fail.
5) Tracks. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NO MAJOR SHORTCUTS WHERE YOU CAN GAIN SECONDS!!!!!!

After a car roll, the spectators and/or co-driver should attempt to roll the car back over!
===============================
If you crash, spectators will help you up if you get stuck or land on your roof or side or something. And how fast you get going again should be decided by how many spectators there are at the place you went off on . If there´s none, the co-driver could pudh and run for some speccies to help. Cool or what!!??

Richy's cmr3 ideas.
===============================
Very good ideas but also when you go past the spectators it would be good if you could see them waving you on and cheering for you. It would be good if the stages were based in real places and used stages which have been used in previous rallies from accross the world. It would also be good if at the end of a season if you did well in say a Skoda Octavia WRC some team like Ford or Subaru made an approach to you to sign you for the next season. It would be good if on a dusty rally like the acropolis or Cyprus if you are catchin up with a car more and more dust stays in the air like in a real rally making it harder to drive the car. It would also be good if both of the British superspecial stages were on it (Silverstone and Cardiff)as they are 2 different kinds of superspecials. Codemasters please take note of this!

I have the following suggestions (some of them have already been mentioned before) for the development team of CMR3.
===============================
I have the following suggestions (some of them have already been mentioned before) for the development team of CMR3.
1. Make the car numbers, models and driver names editable, so that we can decide who are we facing in each race.
If somebody wants to reproduce the real WRC entries of each race he can arrange that, and compete with the "real" drivers of that event.
2. Customizable car settings with memory
Every time I want to start a rally or a stage I must readjust the car settings.
My favorite settings are quite standard, and I only adjust them a little for rain, fast stage, or slow one.
Please try to attach these settings to a driver profile, if possible with customized settings for each rally in the championship, so that the game knows who I am and sets the car automatically for Corsica, or Safari ecc.
3. Stop the 6th position barrier. I agree with all others who do not like it.
At least you can make it possible to remove it in the settings for hard core fans, and leave it as a basic setting for newbies.
4. More realisitic accident behaviour.
Sometimes, if I have an accident and roll over, very little happens to the car, but I can destroy it against a killer baby tree, or a bush of grass or (my personal hated enemies) the hay blocks.
5. Please try to make car performances more in line with the real performance of the cars in WRC.
It feels strange to be easily the fastest in Italy and Corsica with a Ford and to struggle in Kenya to keep up with other cars speed.
On the tarmac Peugeot and Citroen are faster. In Kenya Citroen does not even attend, and Ford is a main competitor for final victory.
6. Enough of the barrier strip along the road.
Please make it more life like.
I do not expect to have the chance to move around in the streets of the villages, but on the other hand I do not want to have a barrier next to me just outside the road all the time to bounce against.
7. Better night lights. Even customizable adjustment, if possible. Night stages are a nightmare since McRae1, as, if are driving at high speed, you really cannot see where to go until the last moment (too late, and bye bye car).
8. Please make it possible to test the stages under any condition (even fog, night (for day stages) or day (for night stages)). At presnt only random, drizzling and rain are possible in alternative to clear day.
9. Introduce all WRC rallies in the game.
If you cannot do it as a standard for economical (or whatever other) reason, why not release expansion packs with the missing rallies later on for die-hard McRae fans?
A lot of games use the expansion pack strategy, why not this one?
This could also apply for additional stages as well, if it works, and it would give you the chance to keep the interest in the game alive before the average 2 years delay for the new version to come out.
10. Games save.
Another feature would be the possibility to save a stage. It would be nice to have the chance to save a good performance in a stage and go back to see it to understand how we made it. Also please make it possible to see it from the same prospective used when driving. The panoramical / spectacular replay does not help to understand how good you drove.
11. Editable co-driver notes.
Nicky Grist calls are often too late for me to react.
Until I learn a stage by heart, I often end up smashing against something because the warnings and calls come too late. Maybe Colin is fine with that, but I am not (and I believe others too).
The best would be the possibility to make the copilot calls editable somehow, so that we can customize them to our driving style, or at least to make it possible to adjust the timing of the call before the next corner.
I am not sure all suggestions are workable and/or useful, but this is what I could think of to make the game more enjoyable.
PS I did not mention better graphics because they are already taken care of in the press releases.

A few ideas of mine :)
===============================
Hiya,
I've never been a big fan of racing games - the only ones I'd see in stores were F1 and that kind of thing. I picked up CMR2 (I've always felt that there's more to a rally race than driving around in circles). I love this game! The sliding turns, the damage to the car - not that I did it intentionally, but ripped the rear bumper right off! I play it on my PC, but will be getting an XBox soon.
In CMR3, I'd like multiplayer support to be continued (hence the XBox).
For the record, I'm not one for continuous tweaking of the car's settings (although I can see where some would - I might if I knew more about it).
After reading the press release, I'd really hope that we won't be left driving just one car. For CMR2 I've been driving the Impreza...
I'd also like to see unique numbers on the cars (User defined would be really cool!)
Whatever happens, this game promises to be a winner!
Cheers,
Bonzai Gopher

Bring back the hall of fame, please! CMR2 was not CMR without it.
===============================
You have the best idea, and by cmr2 you decided to ditch it. Bad idea. Thankfully a website gave us the chance once again to rally against the world in cmr2.0
Dont make the same mistake again, coddies, we want the hall of fame. Only maybe make it a bit more advanced than the old "enter the code" idea. I think that maybe you should make an external program from the main game that takes all the times recorded and post them all the the site, and if they are found to be good enough, added to the hall of fame.
I dunno, maybe it would overload the server. Just an idea.

Extending Rems ideas :)
===============================
If you haven't read rems idea, go and read it now:
Click me
I wish to add to this idea with a more in depth physics selection, as seen in many onroad racers such as grand prox legends, and most good f1 racers. This selection should get you choose if you want realistic wheelspin, or simplified. Realistic handling or simplified. Realistic grip or simplified. Or maybe release 2 versions like flight sim 2002.
I further support this, mainly because of this small interview in rally xs Astralia. This interview was to the developer of the official wrc title "World rally championship". They stated that they started with really realistic handling, but then decided to tone it down to make it easier.
I'm suggesting keep the best of both worlds, even if it means releasing 2 versions. "standard" and "Pro", like flightsim 2002.

One more thing...
===============================
The jumps, fix them please. It should feel like you´re really flying, like in Rally Championship for instance. In CMR and CMR2 it feels like a pathetic hop, even if the hill or knob is huge, and it ALLWAYS lands nose first, no matter how you approach. Slamming the brakes or gas before or during the jump, no effect. Oterwise too the car could be skiping a bit more from ditches etc.

GIVE US THE FREEDOM OF CHOOSING!
===============================
I think optional roadwidth (at least if you are going to use the highways of cmr2) and damage severity would be more appealing for us "hardcore" people, without forgetting about the arcaders. Like someone here earlier pointed out, many of us wants to get seriously "punished" for slamming the car into a wall sideways or directly, or at least the option like in GP3. The fenses and other such objects could be made of some other material than "the worlds toughest stuff". Driving physics needs also some work. And please give us my favorite rallies of cmr: Monte Carlo and New Zealand Otherwise I hope CMR3 to be great!

Spectators, do we really need them?
===============================
Do we need spectators in the game ????
I dont know about anyone else but in past games they havent been animated enough ,even in WRC they stand there with arm bent at the elbow doing this ridiculous repetitive wave, it just seems like a waste of time and space too me unless Codemasters can be the first to break through this seemingly impossible or overlooked barrier with making them more animated I would rather they generate there efforts elsewhere in the game!

4 Ideas of my own
===============================
1.) More Cars
Having all the WRC machinery is all very well, but I'd like to see a few of the older machinery as well. Things like old 80's Group B cars, Super 1600 ralliers and maybe a few Group N cars belonging to different teams/individuals. (A la Toca WTC, where you get the same model of car in a different teams colours.)
2.) Longer Courses
To agree with the majority, some longer courses with more varying weather would be nice. The weather in WRC 2001 was pretty poor and it was better even in CMR2!
3.) Better Set-Up
I'd like to see set-ups similar to GT3. WRC 2001 was pretty poor in this aspect as well since you only had three settings for a few parts. At least CMR2 had sliders...
4.) Improved Physics Model
The Physics model in CMR2 was brilliant. But it could do with some improvements. The ability to retire, for instance, or maybe have random faults or parts failing because of the terrain or weather conditions. (Engine drowning after driving through a water splash, Suspension going all funny after a large jump, steering malfunctions after clipping a rock, etc.)

I have fixed a few bugs with the script. You can now use " ' & \ with out getting a \ before that charactor. Im am going to make more minor modifications in the future to make using this script even easier.
I have also inverted the display. New ideas are now at the top of the list. Save you scrolling all the way down to read the posts. I may add a post new button at the top aswell.

More on damage - steering

There has been heaps of games that when damage occurs to the car it pulls to the left or right due to steering problems.
How about also having sluggy resposnse? maybe also have sluggy response with power steering failures?

The headlines seem to be projected from above, and curve around hills. I think it would be much nicer if you took up 4x4 evos idea, in that the lights are projected from the car!

A better fuel system???
===============================
Wouldn\'t it be cool if you run out of fuel and be forced to retire. This could make the game strategic, in that you goto make sure you have got enough fuel to get to the end of the stages, but minimal amounts to save weight.
Maybe have en effect of oil leaks or fuel leaks aswell. That would be a nice damage effect!

Multi-player.
===============================
Oh and one other thing!
In Multiplayer, it would have been nice to have the choice of starting a championship against all the computerplayers. Sometimes when you just drive with one friend or two, there would be nice to have some other challangers. Being first of two playing isn't as exiting as being first of 16.
It would be good to have the choise of computerplayers anyway....

Damage
===============================
I know CMR3 is supposed to have a really good damage system. But I want more then tiny dents or minor deforations, I want to be able to crunch the car into a wall, with at least moderate damage to the car.
In cmr2, often when u hit the wall you loose not even a sratch of paint.

===============================
I would love to be able to test a car before actually goin to race. Maybe even a 30sec track with an option to be able to skip the session.
It would give me an opertunity to actually get the right setup!
Wouldn't that be nice...

The Sound and other...
===============================
I must say that one of the most important things in a rally game, motor sports game is the sound!
Just to hear the horsepower of a Impresza or Puegeot or what ever, gives you the heartpounding feeling of fulfilment.
And one other thing!
When the car is still and you put the pedal to the buttom, the wheels should really spin, even on dust, grass, sand, just so you have the feeling of the car having horsepower. Not like somethings holding the wheels and the car struggles to make high (velocity?)
-------------------------------

national cars
===============================
I think it would be a cool idea if that you got the best cars from each countries national rally and add them into the championship. I mean not really being able to drive, but being there. For example Possume Bourne in Australia and New Zeland.
Some British drivers in Britan. I think its a small thing, but it would go down nicely. And no one had ever done it before.
PS: if u choose to only have 16 cars like older verions possume usually gets to 8th place or around there in Australia, so this idea can still work. :)

Longer tracks
===============================
I'd much prefer varied track distances. Rally championship was a fine game because distances varied from 2 km to 20. Maybe 20 is a little much for the novice gamer but 10 is a nice rounded figure, as world rally championship on the ps2 certantly proves.

Cheat code idea
===============================
I got an idea for an interesting cheat code. Maybe a 1 crash totals car cheat, it could be humorous. It would make the hardcore fans to wild, and wont effect the normal gamers, cause after all its just a cheat code :)
It could also reverse that other problem thats in colin mcrae rally 2, in that its to easy for advanced players

I think tyre wear would be a nice feature, maybe after a few stages make it a requirement to change tyres, or face high chance of puncture?

Wide screen option
===============================
I think having a widescreen option would be nice. This could allow you to see the entire cockpit instead of only a small fraction. Its hard to drive in cockpit view when you only see a 1/5 of what a real driver would be seeing. Of course your never going to get the full view, but at least wide screen could help.
VR glasses could be handy, but then I hear they make u feel sick a woosy fairly quick so that rules that out.
I seriously think a widescreen mode could help. It would also siut wide screen tv quite nicely.

Simple idea, harder times!
===============================
I found the first 2 games very easy to finish. Very very easy to finish. I suggest harder times, or even a cheat code for harder times that you recieve after you finish the games.
That would be the best. There is nothin worse than a game thats way to easy :)
I mean in the old version shaving off 10secs of the cpu time can be easy if your in a good mood. (well from what I remember)
The arcade mode was especially easy. Once you passs the cars the challenge ends. You regain your line and you leave them light years behind. Literally more than 2 second a lap with 10 laps.
Maybe add a timer in arcade to? Make it more arcade. Maybe thats pushing it. I dunno.

===============================

===============================

-Real Engine failure
-Electric Failure (real ones, not just a message like in CMR2)
-Power Steering failure (it will be fun on FF Wheels!!!)
-Fatal car crash
-Flat Tires (it happens in reality, why it shouldn't in a game?!)
-Narrow Tracks(many ppl already said that!)
-Realistic Handling
-Let us to turn on/off the lights
-Real night stages, not like in CMR2!!!
when you start the stage in dark and
after driving 2km it's already morning.
NIGHT IS NIGHT!!! please make it real...
-Longer stages. At least 10km please
(no more 5&2km stages like in CMR2)
-Make stages more bumpy and more dangerous

===============================

===============================

===============================
And here we go again: BREAKABLE fences and plastic ATA-bands.
This is easy to implement, so please give us this. We've waited several years for this feature!!
* Narrow roads
* SIM, remember we want a sim, not an arcade!
* Heavier damage model (realistic please)
* Cars 1 minute in front of you, and one minute after you.
* Realistic service-area.

===============================

===============================

===============================
I think we need a realistic damage model. Little thinks like crashing into a big rock should knacker the suspension and perhaps force u to retire (depending on the damage caused).

###############################
Here are some more (9 to count)
===============================

===============================

I wish for an improved driving model in the third installment of colin mcrae rally.
===============================

===============================

===============================

===============================

===============================

===============================

===============================

===============================

===============================

===============================
Hiya,
I've never been a big fan of racing games - the only ones I'd see in stores were F1 and that kind of thing.

===============================

===============================

===============================

===============================

===============================

4 Ideas of my own
===============================

How about also having sluggy resposnse? maybe also have sluggy response with power steering failures?

A better fuel system???
===============================
That would be a nice damage effect!

by Chris Robberts

Multi-player.
===============================

Damage
===============================
I know CMR3 is supposed to have a really good damage system. But I want more then tiny dents or minor deforations, I want to be able to crunch the car into a wall, with at least moderate damage to the car.
In cmr2, often when u hit the wall you loose not even a sratch of paint.

The Sound and other...
===============================

===============================

===============================
I'd much prefer varied track distances. Rally championship was a fine game because distances varied from 2 km to 20. Maybe 20 is a little much for the novice gamer but 10 is a nice rounded figure, as world rally championship on the ps2 certantly proves.

Cheat code idea
===============================

Wide screen option
===============================

===============================
I dunno.
