In CMR2 was only 8 rallies and in Sonys WRC are all 14 rallies.
Sonys WRC championship has 70 (5x14) stage with a lenght from 469 kilometre. The longest stage has 13,5 kilometre.
I hope that in CMR3 are 10 rallies with long stage and most of them on gravel, because the most racing games are on tarmac tracks.

My favorite rallies for CMR3 would be :
New Zealand
Australia
Great Britain
Greece
Sweden
Finland (with narrow tracks like in WRC)
Argentina
Portugal
Cyprus

By the Finland rally it would be interesting if the stage "Ouninpohja" with the big jump is in the game. I know this stage only from reports in motorsport magazines. But on this stage always some drivers have here their own championship. Maybe the Finnish members can say more about Ouninpohja.
Ask Colin and NIck about this stage.

Portugal was axed for 2002 to be replaced by the Deutchland Rally (tarmac), so I hope they put in the German round of the WRC.

The rallys I reckon will be in there will be:
- Sweden
- Cyprus (Safari)
- Australia
- France (Corsica)
- Italy (San Remo)
- Spain (Catelunya)
- Britain
- hopefully Germany
- hopefully New Zealand
- hopefully Monte Carlo
- hopefully Finland

And the roads in Finland are acrually wider than other rallies. But I'd like to see Monte, Oz, and Germany in CMR3

If in CMR3 are only 8 rallies, the championship could be a little short ?
Maybe you can make in the championship mode the option "double". In "double" you drive the 8 rallies twice. In the second round you drive the tracks opposite. So you didn't must drive the same stages as in the first part. Now the championship would have 16 rallies. :)

The boys at Codemasters are pretty clued up about maximising the challenge for us hardcore rally fans. If you look at some stages in CMR2, they are the same stage but run in the opposite direction and in different conditions. This effectively gives you two stages that take up only the space of one.

To extend the length of the rallies further, I would reccomend that some stages are used more than once, as in real life. A super-special stage could also be used a couple of times.

If 10 stages were created for each round, by running some stages twice and some in the reverse direction, a full rally could consist of maybe 18 or 20 stages spread over a three day event. Include a super-special on one or two rallies and there you have it, something to satisfy all but the greediest of gamers.

The one thing I hope that the PS2 will be able to do for the stages is allow them to be much longer. Not massively long, we need the 'arcade racers' to be interested enough to keep the sales high and ensure future games, but to remove some of the 'sprint race' feel on some stages. Don't get me wrong, some are great, but I'd like a few toughies that could take 10 minutes to finish. Make them unlock on the professional mode because I doubt the arcaders will even bother with doing a championship.

I hope this doesn't sound too 'tongue-in-cheek', and some feedback from the writers would be good to see how much I might be dreaming!

Is any of the above going to be revealed in the CMR3 preview in the Official PS2 Magazine next month? If so, I'll just wait until.

Cheers guys,

RallyBasher.

Hi Günter,

To answer your question about finnish roads, there are wider roads (like the legendary Ouninpohja), but many stages are part narrow forest road and part wider "common" road.

If Britain is in the game (which it should be) Margam Park, Brechfa and the Cradiff superspecial should be included as they are amazing stages especially Margam and Brechfa. The rallies that should be included are: -

Monte Carlo
Sweden
Finland
Cyprus
Catalynia
San Remo
Austrailia
Germany
New Zealand
Britain
Corsica
Safari

I'd love to see more superspecials on Colin Mcrae 3.

awww heck, why don't we just have all 14 rallies in the game!!!! :D

What I'm curious about is which season 2001 or 2002, will the game be based on, are we only going to be allowed to drive the focus, and since PS2 already has the liscence with their WRC game, is CMR3 allowed to have real stages and other cars than the focus?

I'm a bit upset, as i thought that Codies will give us all ralies.

I hope, that they'll give us more than 12 stages each rally. Also hope, that stages will be similar to real ones (or exact as real ones).

It would be very nice to know that you're driving the same way as Colin and others...

What do you think about it?

from wot i kno, codemasters hav not got the rights to WRC cars and tracks, and are making them up on their own. pictures i have seen so far include over railway lines, waterfalls, big bridges...
