It's an good thread. This is for you Codemasters.
Summary of all ideas from the old forum:
---------
The game should be seperated in two parts. One rally part and one arcade! Dont mix!
Then the rallypart should be seperated in two also: One Full Sim option and one Rally option.
* The rally option should be like CMR2.
* Now to the Full Sim option:
A rally should be built like a real rally event.
- Starts with Recce. Option screen appears:
Drive Recce or Use Standard Notes.
On the recce you can put what number or word you want on the curves and what distances.
- Then you make a big setup of the car for the rally. Then on the service you should only repair and do small changes. Option screen: with a 3d car that rotates in the background when you make changes. You should have an options so you don't have to setup the car. An standard setup that works for the rally.
Or else you can make own setups of the car.
Setups like: tires, suspension, car height, brake bias, brake power, power ratio, gearbox, steering and much more advanced setups.
- Then you can drive a practice (Shakedown) of a stage two times or not at all.
- Then the rally starts. Animation: Presentation of the cars in front of public.
- For each stage:
* Animation: Car drives towards the Timecontrol.
* Then you drive to the start line. 50-100 meters. If you starts before the clock says go or not standing on start line, you'll get a time penaulty.
* Then for the fun, driving the stage. Realistic roads, with realistic lenght and widht.
* Then you cross the finnishline and gear down for the Timecontrol. If you go to fast you don't stop in the time control and go'll get a time penaulty. If you aren't there in one minute, time penaulty.
* Animation: See the car leave the timecontrol.
- If it's time for service. Animation: Car drives in the service area and parks in the team area. You interact with co-driver, team boss and other service personel.
When service is over. Animation: See car leave Team area and service.
- When the rally is over, if retired or succelfully finnished the rally, return to service for a happy moment. Then you go to the same area as in the start of the rally. Animation: See drivers play with the champange in front of the car or on the podium.
That's how the game should be.
You must get the atmosphere.
Watch the incar view's from real rallys. For example: Driving trought a Sweden stage. Lots of snow, see and almost feel the cold.
See people gather in the forest kilometers from start and finnish, close to hairpins and roadchanges. They should be alive.
They should have bonfires and flags.
You go flat at 6th gear and hearing the wind against the windscreen.
If you crach. Two minutes later another car passes you. Or if another car crashes, you should pass him. That would be cool.
The crashes should be scarry. If you hit a pole with the rear, even in lower speeds. Roll!
In high speed the car will be wrecked!
If the car is very damaged, retire!
There is lots of good ideas to improve the game.
So please listen Codemasters.
--------------------
Add things that I have forgot, other customers and members. I think the gameplay will be good like this.

I am near completion of my site, and the script that will allow you to post your idea for CMR3. I give it another 1-2 days and Ill be done :)
Great Niklas - that pretty much covers all my suggestions too :)
One extra point tho;
If you crash, spectators will help you up if you get stuck or land on your roof or side or something. And how fast you get going again should be decided by how many spectators there are at the place you went off on  . If there´s none, the co-driver could pudh and run for some speccies to help. Cool or what    ?
hey Calle thats a great idea with the co-driver running off to get some spectators ,Codemasters should be able to incorporate a Track and Field game in there somewhere and maybe when he finds some they can add a soccer ball and on the way back we can get a quick game of soccer in
come on guys think about what your posting ,some of you wonder why Codemasters dont answer posts well that last suggestion is a classic example
i guess the only reason i can come up for some of these posts is the age bracket of the people posting them
errrr just saw ur contribution to left foot braking post Calle and now realise ur just taking the **** out of some posts,i went in a bit hot on this one thinking u were serious but the more i think about ur idea the funnier it gets : )

Hi! Great summary Niklas, but I think lots of things are over the top. I played CMR 2 a lot and there are my thoughts what must be added or edited.
1) Animations. Yes they are a good idea... for first 10 to 20 times you wach them and then you got frustrated of them, because you got to wach the same thing over and over again. If there will be animations there should bee a way to swich them off.
2) Recce. It's useless, because you have a time trial, where driver can learn stages. But instead there could be a option to EDIT PACE NOTES. In CMR 2 was lots of places where I kept crashing again and again, because of uncorrect pace notes.
3) Setup. Car setup in CMR 2 was perfect, not too simple and not too hard. Most of people don't work in wheel aligment shop and don't know a thing about camber, toe in, toe out, gearbox ratios and other specific things. And they don't need to. Let's think that big setup is alredy made in preseasons testing and all we need is to make those little adjustments to suit particular conditions. This is need to keep competition fear to those who don't understand advanced car setup as well (like me).
4) Damage. I think, that damage should be divided in three categories: No damage, Arcade and Simulation. In arcade mode you can damage the car, but cannot brake it completly (like in CMR 2). In simulation you can actually brake your car. Examples. Crashed in tree head-on: broke intercooler and radiator (white smoke from the hood), engine and turbo starts to overheat (black smoke from the exsaust) and loose power (and if indicator on dashboard reacts accordingly it's superb!) and if you keep going too hard too long it stops completley (race over). Headlamps should be destroyable too; Crashed in the rock/timber: in CMR 2 it was like crashing in the wall. Instead, depending on speed, wheel should come off or got damaged; When gearbox breaks you should loose a gears or got stuck in one gear; When brakes are damaged, under braking, car will pull to side. If damage is severe front or rear brakes should fail.
5) Tracks. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NO MAJOR SHORTCUTS WHERE YOU CAN GAIN SECONDS!!!!!!
To Be Continued.
Bravoman -
For the most part, I agree with your notes, here's my thoughts on some of them...
Recce-
I see your point about recce vs. timetrial, but by making a "Recce" option, you're introducing a real race preparation process. Having someone go into the time-trial to prepare their notes doesn't really make sense. And recce'ing isn't done at full-speed, it isn't a "practice" per se. In time-trial mode, if you were going to go through slowly to make notes, the times will be recorded as bad times in the system... To properly adjust pace notes, you're going to have to have a formal system of doing so, and I think a fully-developed recce option makes the most sense.
Car Setup-
I agree with you; CMR2 has a great balance with car setup - it's enough to make you feel involved, but not so much that it's unpleasant and overwhelming.
I would add, however that I would like to add the ability to save setup profiles (something you can do in Sega Rally 2, believe it or not). Going back to recce'ing, and even pre-event testing, you could save your "default setup" for the Rally, which you would fine tune according to stage conditions.

There could be a "challenge mode" in CMR 3 like in the PS2 games Gran Tourismo 3 (license test), Moto GP or F1 2001 EA. When you pass a challange you get cheats, bonus tracks or bonus cars. On this way in the game self is no arcade feature.

probly didn't notice my post? I got heaps of ideas from my site. I think there is 23 there now though I still want more :)
Heres the stuff from my older post. Just copied them from my script db. Any way these are it.
Keep on a posting them, link in my sig, wishlist. After 1 night this is what came up:
Aki Hankonen
Control settings to player profile
Is it possible to import controls settings in every player profile. B cause if in one computer has many CMR player profiles and every player use different control settings (keyboard/joy/wheel)
Doug Williams
I would like to see better dirt effects
Since I have seen GranTourismo 3, I have never seen a game with better dirt effects. It would be cool if Colin McRae Rally had similar effects to that of GranTourismo.Otherwise I like the game where it is heading. Realistic, yet fun.
Oskar Omarsson
online on PS2 and more damage effect
i would like to see much more and releastic damage on the cars, and i would love to play CMR3 online or on LAN on Playstation2
Doug Williams
Simple idea, harder times!
I found the first 2 games very easy to finish. Very very easy to finish. I suggest harder times, or even a cheat code for harder times that you recieve after you finish the games. That would be the best. There is nothin worse than a game thats way to easy I mean in the old version shaving off 10secs of the cpu time can be easy if your in a good mood. (well from what I remember)The arcade mode was especially easy. Once you passs the cars the challenge ends. You regain your line and you leave them light years behind. Literally more than 2 second a lap with 10 laps.Maybe add a timer in arcade to? Make it more arcade. Maybe thats pushing it. I dunno.
jack
Wide screen option
I think having a widescreen option would be nice. This could allow you to see the entire cockpit instead of only a small fraction. Its hard to drive in cockpit view when you only see a 1/5 of what a real driver would be seeing. Of course your never going to get the full view, but at least wide screen could help.VR glasses could be handy, but then I hear they make u feel sick a woosy fairly quick so that rules that out.I seriously think a widescreen mode could help. It would also siut wide screen tv quite nicely.
Doug Williams
Tyre wear
I think tyre wear would be a nice feature, maybe after a few stages make it a requirement to change tyres, or face high chance of puncture?
Doug Williams
Cheat code idea
I got an idea for an interesting cheat code. Maybe a 1 crash totals car cheat, it could be humorous. It would make the hardcore fans to wild, and wont effect the normal gamers, cause after all its just a cheat code It could also reverse that other problem thats in colin mcrae rally 2, in that its to easy for advanced players
Doug Williams
Longer tracks
I'd much prefer varied track distances. Rally championship was a fine game because distances varied from 2 km to 20. Maybe 20 is a little much for the novice gamer but 10 is a nice rounded figure, as world rally championship on the ps2 certantly proves.
Doug Williams
national cars
I think it would be a cool idea if that you got the best cars from each countries national rally and add them into the championship. I mean not really being able to drive, but being there. For example Possume Bourne in Australia and New Zeland.<%%br/%%><%%br/%%>Some British drivers in Britan. I think its a small thing, but it would go down nicely. And no one had ever done it before.<%%br/%%><%%br/%%>PS: if u choose to only have 16 cars like older verions possume usually gets to 8th place or around there in Australia, so this idea can still work.

The Sound and other...
I must say that one of the most important things in a rally game, motor sports game is the sound!Just to hear the horsepower of a Impresza or Puegeot or what ever, gives you the heartpounding feeling of fulfilment. And one other thing! When the car is still and you put the pedal to the buttom, the wheels should really spin, even on dust, grass, sand, just so you have the feeling of the car having horsepower. Not like somethings holding the wheels and the car struggles to make high (velocity?)
Ban Jacob
From old to new
Maybe start off with Colins older cars and work up threw years, increasing skill level to his current car the focus. Maybe it would be cool if you start in the impreza and go threw the change to the focus.
dennis
Co-Driver
I like the cmr 1 type calls. Though I hear the cmr 2 calls are quite popular. Maybe a choice between them would be nice. Wouldn't be to hard to code either I dont imagine.
Jack
Test runs
I would love to be able to test a car before actually goin to race. Maybe even a 30sec track with an option to be able to skip the session. It would give me an opertunity to actually get the right setup! Wouldn't that be nice...
Doug Williams
Damage
I know CMR3 is supposed to have a really good damage system. But I want more then tiny dents or minor deforations, I want to be able to crunch the car into a wall, with at least moderate damage to the car. In cmr2, often when u hit the wall you loose not even a sratch of paint.

Input suppoer on console systems, specifically PS2
I bought wrc, only to find it didn't work with my force wheel, that worked in gt3. I suggest you use a generalised input system much alike gt3 and standard pc input. thanks
Nick Kjaer
Drive to each stage manually.
I think it would be cool if you could drive from the team truck/awning to the start area of the next stage, that would be really cool. And same as at the end of the stage/days rallying.
Gareth Bryne
Multi-player.
Oh and one other thing! In Multiplayer, it would have been nice to have the choice of starting a championship against all the computerplayers. Sometimes when you just drive with one friend or two, there would be nice to have some other challangers. Being first of two playing isn\'t as exiting as being first of 16.It would be good to have the choise of computerplayers anyway...Greetings honoured gamemakers....

A better fuel system???
Wouldn't it be cool if you run out of fuel and be forced to retire. This could make the game strategic, in that you goto make sure you have got enough fuel to get to the end of the stages, but minimal amounts to save weight.Maybe have en effect of oil leaks or fuel leaks aswell. That would be a nice damage effect!

In CMR2 are only three difficulty levels. In the second you can win the championshop with a WRC. But in the third level you need a strong bonus car to win. In the third level I can win only the Sweden rally with a WRC. But I want to drive only with the current rally cars (WRC, group N and super 1600). There should be more levels in CMR3, maybe four or five. So it will be simple for any player to find his personal level.
Also should be the strong of the cars and drivers realistic. Some drivers or cars are only strong on tarmac, other only on gravel or snow. And some drivers and cars are strong on all conditions. In some rallies Michelin tyres are stronger and in some rallies Pirelli tyres are stronger.
On this way will be in CMR3 more different results as in CMR2. In CMR2 allways (most) was Colin McRae or the player the winner.
But to get a real exiting championship it must be possible to have a retirement (player and other drivers). So many people in this forum want this feature, but I never read a answer for this.

A little suggestion to the manual gear change. When you come in CMR2 in the sixth gear to a hairpin and you gear down very quickly into the first gear, it is possible to be in the reverse gear when you gear down once to often.
Make between the first gear and the reverse gear a neutral position. Or you must press the "gear down" button for a longer time to get the reverse gear ?

Following a suggestion for a race option menu. I think with such race options can every player (child also as a sim fan) create a perfekt rally for himself.
rally mode select: time trail - single stage - single rally - CHAMPIONSHIP - own championship ?
championship: NEW GAME - load a saved game
number of players: ONE - two - three - four
select a player: play as guest - LOAD PLAYER PROFIL - create a new player profil
type of car: WRC - group n - super 1600
wrc: peugeot - FORD - mitsubishi - subaru - skoda - hyundai - citroen
ford drivers: 4 sainz - 5 MCRAE - 6 märtin (name can be edit in a own editor)
difficulty: novice - amateur - intermediate - PROFI - expert
number of stage: 4 (one day) - 8 (two days) - 12 (three days) - DOUBLE (three days, every day 4x2 = 8 stage!)
weather: REALISTIC - sunny - cloudy - rain - variable
damage: off - small - REALISTIC
technical failures: off - small - REALISTIC
car setup: automatic - simple - EXTENSIVE
transmission: automatic - MANUAL
co-driver language: ENGLISH (grist!) - german - france - italy - ..........
break assistance: OFF - small - on
steering assistance: OFF - small - on
skid assistance: OFF - small - on
The players name from the "players profile" should be only in the high score list. In the game (result) should be the drivers name(McRae,Sainz....).
Maybe it is possible to create a "own championship"? If in CMR3 are only 8 rallies, you can select some rally double to get 14 rallies like in the real championship.

I agree with Gunter, but I think it would be better if you had a seperate key for neutral (not the shiftdown key) and another one for reverse, like in real rally cars. That means you shift up from R to N to 1, but you can only shiftdown to 1, shifting down wont get you past 1. Then you have to press another button for N or another one for R.

I've posted these on the old forum and submitted them to 3mpty's site, but I'll repost them here...
1.) More Cars
Having all the WRC machinery is all very well, but I'd like to see a few of the older machinery as well. Things like old 80's Group B cars, Super 1600 ralliers and maybe a few Group N cars belonging to different teams/individuals. (A la Toca WTC, where you get the same model of car in a different teams colours.)
2.) Longer Courses
To agree with the majority, some longer courses with more varying weather would be nice. The weather in WRC 2001 was pretty poor and it was better even in CMR2!
3.) Better Set-Up
I'd like to see set-ups similar to GT3. WRC 2001 was pretty poor in this aspect as well since you only had three settings for a few parts. At least CMR2 had sliders...
4.) Improved Physics Model
The Physics model in CMR2 was brilliant. But it could do with some improvements. The ability to retire, for instance, or maybe have random faults or parts failing because of the terrain or weather conditions. (Engine drowning after driving through a water splash, Suspension going all funny after a large jump, steering malfunctions after clipping a rock, etc.)
I'd hardly call CMR2's physics model "brilliant". To me, it feels like the model isn't based on emulating 4 wheels touching the ground, attached to suspension, etc. etc.
It feels more to me like the car is pivoting on one point, with feelers for surface conditions.
Don't get me wrong, I love CMR2, but I would like to see them concentrate on improving the driving model.

OK, so maybe that was me being a bit biased... ;) ...but it is still better than what some so-called "rally" games in the past have managed to do.

Hiya,
I've never been a big fan of racing games - the only ones I'd see in stores were F1 and that kind of thing. I picked up CMR2 (I've always felt that there's more to a rally race than driving around in circles). I love this game! The sliding turns, the damage to the car - not that I did it intentionally, but ripped the rear bumper right off! I play it on my PC, but will be getting an XBox soon.
In CMR3, I'd like multiplayer support to be continued (hence the XBox).
For the record, I'm not one for continuous tweaking of the car's settings (although I can see where some would - I might if I knew more about it).
After reading the press release, I'd really hope that we won't be left driving just one car. For CMR2 I've been driving the Impreza... ;)
I'd also like to see unique numbers on the cars (User defined would be really cool!)
Whatever happens, this game promises to be a winner!
Cheers,
Bonzai Gopher
I have the following suggestions (some of them have already been mentioned before) for the development team of MCR3.
1. Make the car numbers, models and driver names editable, so that we can decide who are we facing in each race.
If somebody wants to reproduce the real WRC entries of each race he can arrange that, and compete with the "real" drivers of that event.
2. Customizable car settings with memory
Every time I want to start a rally or a stage I must readjust the car settings.
My favorite settings are quite standard, and I only adjust them a little for rain, fast stage, or slow one.
Please try to attach these settings to a driver profile, if possible with customized settings for each rally in the championship, so that the game knows who I am and sets the car automatically for Corsica, or Safari ecc.
3. Stop the 6th position barrier. I agree with all others who do not like it.
At least you can make it possible to remove it in the settings for hard core fans, and leave it as a basic setting for newbies.
4. More realisitic accident behaviour.
Sometimes, if I have an accident and roll over, very little happens to the car, but I can destroy it against a killer baby tree, or a bush of grass or (my personal hated enemies) the hay blocks.
5. Please try to make car performances more in line with the real performance of the cars in WRC.
It feels strange to be easily the fastest in Italy and Corsica with a Ford and to struggle in Kenya to keep up with other cars speed.
On the tarmac Peugeot and Citroen are faster. In Kenya Citroen does not even attend, and Ford is a main competitor for final victory.
6. Enough of the barrier strip along the road.
Please make it more life like.
I do not expect to have the chance to move around in the streets of the villages, but on the other hand I do not want to have a barrier next to me just outside the road all the time to bounce against.
7. Better night lights. Even customizable adjustment, if possible. Night stages are a nightmare since McRae1, as, if are driving at high speed, you really cannot see where to go until the last moment (too late, and bye bye car).
8. Please make it possible to test the stages under any condition (even fog, night (for day stages) or day (for night stages)). At presnt only random, drizzling and rain are possible in alternative to clear day.
9. Introduce all WRC rallies in the game.
If you cannot do it as a standard for economical (or whatever other) reason, why not release expansion packs with the missing rallies later on for die-hard McRae fans?
A lot of games use the expansion pack strategy, why not this one?
This could also apply for additional stages as well, if it works, and it would give you the chance to keep the interest in the game alive before the average 2 years delay for the new version to come out.
10. Games save.
Another feature would be the possibility to save a stage. It would be nice to have the chance to save a good performance in a stage and go back to see it to understand how we made it. Also please make it possible to see it from the same prospective used when driving. The panoramical / spectacular replay does not help to understand how good you drove.
11. Editable co-driver notes.
Nicky Grist calls are often too late for me to react.
Until I learn a stage by heart, I often end up smashing against something because the warnings and calls come too late. Maybe Colin is fine with that, but I am not (and I believe others too).
The best would be the possibility to make the copilot calls editable somehow, so that we can customize them to our driving style, or at least to make it possible to adjust the timing of the call before the next corner.
I am not sure all suggestions are workable and/or useful, but this is what I could think of to make the game more enjoyable.
PS I did not mention better graphics because they are already taken care of in the press releases.
Ciao
Günter

In the championship should be a result table where you can see the results of all championship rallies. In CMR1 was such a result table, in CMR2 was only a list with the total result.
A result table like this: http://www.worldrally-online.com/en_GB/Results/Standings/Standings.htm?RallyName=2002_MC

Very good ideas but also when you go past the spectators it would be good if you could see them waving you on and cheering for you. It would be good if the stages were based in real places and used stages which have been used in previous rallies from accross the world. It would also be good if at the end of a season if you did well in say a Skoda Octavia WRC some team like Ford or Subaru made an approach to you to sign you for the next season. It would be good if on a dusty rally like the acropolis or Cyprus if you are catchin up with a car more and more dust stays in the air like in a real rally making it harder to drive the car. It would also be good if both of the British superspecial stages were on it (Silverstone and Cardiff)as they are 2 different kinds of superspecials. Codemasters please take note of this!

Just to hear the horsepower of a Impresza or Puegeot or what ever, gives you the heartpounding feeling of fulfilment.
And one other thing!
When the car is still and you put the pedal to the buttom, the wheels should really spin, even on dust, grass, sand, just so you have the feeling of the car having horsepower. Not like somethings holding the wheels and the car struggles to make high (velocity?)

>> national cars
I think it would be a cool idea if that you got the best cars from each countries national rally and add them into the championship. I mean not really being able to drive, but being there. For example Possume Bourne in Australia and New Zeland.
Some British drivers in Britan. I think its a small thing, but it would go down nicely. And no one had ever done it before.
PS: if u choose to only have 16 cars like older verions possume usually gets to 8th place or around there in Australia, so this idea can still work. :)

>> Longer tracks
I'd much prefer varied track distances. Rally championship was a fine game because distances varied from 2 km to 20. Maybe 20 is a little much for the novice gamer but 10 is a nice rounded figure, as world rally championship on the ps2 certantly proves.

>> Cheat code idea
I got an idea for an interesting cheat code. Maybe a 1 crash totals car cheat, it could be humorous. It would make the hardcore fans to wild, and wont effect the normal gamers, cause after all its just a cheat code :)
It could also reverse that other problem thats in colin mcrae rally 2, in that its to easy for advanced players

>> Tyre wear
I think tyre wear would be a nice feature, maybe after a few stages make it a requirement to change tyres, or face high chance of puncture?
by Doug Williams
>> Wide screen option
I think having a widescreen option would be nice. This could allow you to see the entire cockpit instead of only a small fraction. Its hard to drive in cockpit view when you only see a 1/5 of what a real driver would be seeing. Of course your never going to get the full view, but at least wide screen could help.
VR glasses could be handy, but then I hear they make u feel sick a woosy fairly quick so that rules that out.
I seriously think a widescreen mode could help. It would also siut wide screen tv quite nicely.

>> Simple idea, harder times!
I found the first 2 games very easy to finish. Very very easy to finish. I suggest harder times, or even a cheat code for harder times that you recieve after you finish the games.
That would be the best. There is nothin worse than a game thats way to easy :)
I mean in the old version shaving off 10secs of the cpu time can be easy if your in a good mood. (well from what I remember)
The arcade mode was especially easy. Once you passs the cars the challenge ends. You regain your line and you leave them light years behind. Literally more than 2 second a lap with 10 laps.
Maybe add a timer in arcade to? Make it more arcade. Maybe thats pushing it. I dunno.

>> online on PS2 and more damage effect
i would like to see much more and releastic damage on the cars, and i would love to play CMR3 online or on LAN on Playstation2
by Oskar Omarsson
>> I would like to see better dirt effects
Since I have seen GranTourismo 3, I have never seen a game with better dirt effects. It would be cool if Colin McRae Rally had similar effects to that of GranTourismo.
Otherwise I like the game where it is heading. Realistic, yet fun.

>> Control settings to player profile
Is it possible to import controls settings in every player profile. B cause if in one computer has many CMR player profiles and every player use different control settings (keyboard/joy/wheel)

Codemastes please make Colin Mc Rae 3 the best Rally game! Please take the best from one rally car and it's handling and put this in the game! Colin Mc Rae 1 was the best game for it's time of releasem, but Colin Mc Rae 2 is more arcade game game than a simulation one! I think Michelin Rally Masters is more real than any other rally game?! Make this game real driver's game not an excuse of rally game such all others released games until now?! There must be no excuses for making a World Rally Championship game!

Maybe you can install a "handicap" in the players profile ? A "handicap" from 0 - 10 seconds. When you select handicap 5, on the start of the stage the clock didn't start by 0, the clock start by 5 seconds. The sense of a handicap is when more players (CMR2-four) with a different ability competed on a rally they can adjust their personal level.
So can childs and racing game experts play together the game and all have a chance to win. A good player with handicap 5 must drive the stage 5 seconds faster to have the same time as a poor player.
Noone has mentioned sth that I think is essential in order to make gamers feel like they are real rally drivers. And that is fully working car systems, mainly the following two:
1. Fully operational dashboard. That means that we will be able to see RPMs, speed, gear, and other things, like oil temp, remaining gas, etc (which will have an effect in the game, of course, you should run out of gas for example, or be able to overheat the car if the radiator or intercooler is broken). It would be nice to have several info pages on the LCD display, like the real cars have (at least some of them do).
2. Working switches. Drivers can adjust the center differential, turbo pressure, brake balance, etc when driving, and so should we. There should also be a start switch, and the engine should stall, and the car should behave realistically, for example I know that in the 206 (maybe in all cars, I'm not sure) if the engine stalls and you don't push the start button immediately, the turbo catches fire. Even standard engine settings through a main switch, like ROAD for road sections, and MAX for stages (ok this is not really necessary). Or an engine kill-switch and switches for fire-extinguishers to prevent fire during heavy accidents (there should be an option where one heavy crash could ruin the car, and a detailed one - cut a corner too deep, or go over a rock at high speed and the suspension breaks). That kind of stuff. Needless to say, this is only for the PC, that's a lot of switches. And, also needless to say, we should at least have control over the lights and wipers.
But the main thing is long and narrow stages! Nothing else matters more than this I think.
I know, that's a lot to ask, but...
I'm wondering though, does anything we say now even matters, since the game is almost ready?

Make it for the PS2 possible to save/load the game on Memory Card 1 also on Memory Card 2. When two players will save/load their own CMR3 game, so they didn't must change the Memory Cards on the PS2 !

The Co-driver could make also some personal statements when the player make mistakes or the car has a technical problem.
I remember that Nicky Grist say's after the crash by the rally of Great Britan something like this to Colin : "Where have you learned to drive a car ? By your grandma ......"! :)
In the TV reports is there often to hear a long "peeeeeep". :D

<hr></blockquote>
It's a very good idea to adjust the difficulty level in percent and it could be also in CMR3 :) .
But there should be more game options to adjust in the difficulty setup. In the PS2 hockey game NHL 2002 from EA you can adjust 20 game options in 8 steps. So can really every player create a perfect level for himself. Maybe someone from the CMR3 team can make a look in this game?
There could be adjustable game options like this:
Speed - most important when you change the level. The speed of the other drivers.
Retirements - the other drivers have more or less retirements.
Mistakes - the other driver lose time by own mistakes.
Technical problems - more or less problems
Damage - how large is the damage after a crash.
"Time window" - how large is the time different from the fastest to the slowest driver. In Sonys WRC the different is to much large.
What I mean with this post is, that when you change the difficulty level it shouldn't be change only the speed of the other drivers.
Maybe other members have ideas too.
Hi,
Don't forget the sounds.
DD5.1 support and this game could be the milestone for games for others to follow.

This is really important. I've been playing cmr20 over the internet alot! and its really annoying that some people out there puts more effort in finding shortcuts than learníng the game. On some of the ss you can gain up to 25 secs by doing cross-country driving(Greece). Cutting a corner with at least one wheel on the road is acceptable I think, but those major cross-country shortcuts is a problem that Codemasters must adress in cmr30.
To Be Continued.<hr></blockquote>

Okay...first thing first!! I want CMR3 avail. on PC!!.....it's a must!
Now to the game points:
1) Some ideas from others are great (i should say!) like co drivers calling for help, or the sound fx of the wind n stuff......i totally agree to that! :D And add to that, what if you can control the co-driver or the driver as he gets out to get help!!.....oh, also (i know that CMR3 will be with exellent graphics n stuff but..) can you give like exellent dust graphics!! such as when you do hairpins dusts are propelled outwards from the car and when you do hard brakes, dusts covers the car itself......dusts rocks!!(also goes for mud! but not asphalts......no....you don't want to see alphalts flying to your face do ya??!!)
2) Oh, how about for different cars they have different specs (in CMR2 it only shows weigh and HP i think i never look at them, just pick a car and go!)......i know that this game does not have the FIA license (but can you??) but......giving cars different specs (as they are in real) is great if you ask me!
3) Another thing that bothers me is that when you hit on of those sideline markers (which is usually a red and white tape!) you crash with great force!! I mean....in real, cars don't crash hitting a sideline tape!! I think you should make it that it tares through the tape into the spectators (speccies runs in panic! none is hurt though.....as this is a PG or is it G rated game!)
well i guess that's all..........oh, one last thing:
PLEASE BE ON PC!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
i think the background scenery needs changing. Stuff like the red/white tapes, small bushes. But i disagree with the hay bales about they shouldnt do much damage-u shouldnt hit them like its a brick wall but they should get knocked out of place and u should get lots of damage from hitting them (belive me, i saw a round of the British Rally Championship, the guy hit a hay bale, smashed in his front end, the bale got knocked out of place and the radiator got clogged, heated up and he went out)
Homer, Use the forr....
The force?
No, use the forks

I have read that in CMR3 is a kind of career mode where you get as player a 3 year deal with the ford team.
Maybe it should be possible in a career mode to play a career about 10 years. You can create yourself as driver and you begin the career in a super 1600 team. After the first year, when you was successful you get offers from group N teams.
After a successful second year, you can get a offer from a WRC team.
After a season it should be possible to make transfers in the other teams. So you could transfer Burns to Ford, or Sainz to Subaru and so long. Maybe the game make this transfers automatic.
It should also be possible that some "old" drivers are finish their career on the end of a saison. Young and new drivers can now start their career.
Also should it possible that a driver has after a crash a injury and he didn't can start by the next rally. Or a driver is ill and so he didn't can drive so fast as when he is well.
Also should change the effeciency of the cars and drivers from year to year. A team build a new and better car, so they can get better results. Or a young driver get after some years more experience and so it is possible for him to win or to fight for the championship.
I have the ideas to this suggestions from the PS2 hockey-game NHL 2002 from EA. At the moment it's my favourite game. The saison mode is really great. You can play a career about 10 saisons with the similar features.
