maybe a stupid question.. :D but now my hunter got a ligth dmg bow. does apply light oil do any good then? (same with fire dmg bows etc.)

It'll still do Light/Fire damage if that's what you're asking. And you'll still get the "on crit..." effect from the oil.

It means that when you land a critical hit on the mob they will get a miss chance debuff (think it's 10% for 10 seconds...and stackable from memory).

So yeah I would use it still.

More specifically, it changes certain skills to become 'fire' or 'light' type. Your attacks will still deal normal bow damage, this can be seen in the combat log and the fact your arrow won't glow with an auto-attack, or non-modified skill.

you might be using a reduce threat bow with fire damage but need light damage, or crit chance etc.

oils do 'dots'
oils have efects (i love the TINGggg from light oil)

so i always have a stack in my bag (usally light)
