Probably try some more Cocteau Twins later as I'm seriously loving that band at the moment.

What do you have? I may be able to recommend some more.

Currently listening to: Girl Talk- Night Ripper. I had no idea what to expect from this album, I did no research into it at all and I'm so pleasantly surprised. I would say it probably falls into the hip hop/ rap genre but it features samples from hundreds of artists that I'm more familiar with such as The Verve, The Beatles, Daft Punk, Pixies and loads more. A really great album after only one listen. Highly recommended.

Haven't heard much from The Maccabees, Kubichek!, Dartz or Sparta. Will check them all out though. Seeing The Young Knifes next weekend- looking forward to it. Think iForward, Russia! are really rubbish (sorry George). Think Wolfmother are very fun, might have to get their album. As for British Sea Power, do bands get any better these days? Well not really, unless we're talking Radiohead or The Mars Volta.

Just back from HMV where I bought:
Miles Davis- Bitches Brew
David Bowie- Hunky Dory
Lupen Crook- Accidents Occur Whilst Sleeping (best debut album of this year so far, after Thom Yorke's and The Pipettes).

Purchases on the way home tonight - Dusty Springfield's Dusty in Memphis (don't laugh - it's no.63 (http://www.xs4all.nl/~fsgroen/Top100's/2003NME.html) in NME's Top 100 of all time). Also Giant Steps by Boo Radleys as it's a great album that I lost many years ago. And was only a fiver.

Downloading Girl Talk/Night Ripper on CF's advice - I'll listen to that next. Also might grab 'He Poos Clouds' by Final Fantasy as well tonight as I've heard good stuff about that.

The Mars Volta- Amputechture
TV On the Radio- Return to Cookie Mountain
Thom Yorke- The Eraser
The Pipettes- We Are the Pipettes
The Flaming Lips- At War With the Mystics
Lupen Crook- Accidents Occur Whilst Sleeping
Herbert- Scale
Islands- Return to the Sea
Girl Talk- Night Ripper
Neil Young- Living With War
Lily Allen- Alright, Still
Morrissey- Ringleader of the Tormentors
Special Needs- Funfairs and Heartbreak
Xiu Xiu- The Air Force
Liars- Drum's Not Dead
Gnarls Barkely- St. Elsewhere
The Roots- Game Theory
Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan - Ballad Of The Broken Seas
The Black Keys- Magic Potion
Placebo- Meds
be your own PET- s/t
Belle and Sebastian- The Life Pursuit

opeth is tough one to recommed mate, its actaully Death metal, or some of there music is, some isnt, you need to be able to tollerate some death metal vocals in order to like there music, because they do use them.
They also do sing in clear vocals there very varied.

Anyway to start of with opeth there most acessable music is from the damnation album, its like a chillout easy listening album, simular to depeche mode sound.

For the true opeth sound try any songs from Blackwater park , especailly a track called "harvest" and any songs from there latest and best album "ghost reveires"

For those who don't know who he is, he was the lead singer and multi instumentalist from the psychedelic band Love. Love are criminally over looked and underated.

Their third album 'Forever Changes' is an absolute masterpiece and is one of the greatest albums of all time.

If you don't own this album:

I second what CF says up there about the Love album - brilliant LP and one I play a lot. Played it on Friday when the news came through of Arthur Lee's death.

Anyway - today I've been playing Howe Gelb's Sno Angel Like You, a lovely little album that mixes downbeat lo-fi rock/blues with a gospel backing; highly-recommended.

Also enjoying White Whale (another of the 'next Arcade Fire' bands) and probably pick up yet more Cocteau Twins music tonight. Seriously loving them at the moment.

The critics say it's a mix of God Hates Us All and Seasons in the Abyss, you can listen to the album all the way through on their Myspace profile.

From what i've heard it's not as harsh as their earlier works, but the lyrics are very meaningful, they have a song called "Jihad"...

I'll give that a listen but i'll buy it regardless because I own all of slayers albums except for "Hell awaits" used to own it but lost it.

My favourite slayer album has to South Of heaven, Its brillaint the way created something different on it.
Its slowed down but speed is not all together gone, Silent scream and ghosts of war are at high speed.

I nabbed my missus Lily Allen CD this morning for the drive into work, as it's sunny n'all that - surprised how good this actaully is. I don't think that I'd purchace it myself but I think that if you're looking for a new album and you're not really sure what you'd want I'd recommend this. It's totally different to the suff that I usually listen to, but variety is the spice of life innit.

It's got a pretty good Kaiser Chiefs (Oh My God) cover on it.

have to agree mate, it's quite refreshing bit of fluff much as I wanted to hate it. Lyrically very clever in places not sure how much she will have actually written though, I get the impression she's a bit of a "puppet" if you get me, but might be wrong.

Either way it's not as terrible as I was expecting by any means.

There's none that I know of - while the technology is fine (we've used torrents to distribute our videos before) the sites that list torrents tend to list illegal downloads.

Remember that Codemasters does not endorse any downloads of illegal or copied files (audio, video or games) and I'd prefer if you didn't talk about that stuff on here.

Surprisingly good album from what could be regarded as the James Blunt of this year.

That's on my 'to buy' list. In fact, as the Pulp reissues didn't come out today (these (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000GQLR4Q/026-9062832-8258012) lovely (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000GQLR46/026-9062832-8258012), juicy (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000GQLR4G/026-9062832-8258012) things) I might purchase TV on the Radio this evening.

My downloads from emusic (http://www.emusic.com) this week were Charalambides (quiet pysch-folk music), and Final Fantasy (the session violinist from Arcade Fire - not great so far, hard to get into, but two or three good ones - 'Many Lives 49 MP' and 'The Pooka Sings' are the best so far).

If you dont have them then look for Hatful of Hollow and Louder than Bombs. Both contain The Smiths' best music.

just a tip for people who dont already know this, but you if you listen to Radio 5 live on real player , pause it and let the match your watching catch up with it, then play 5 live again you will have English commentary.

Doesent have to radio 5 live, just what ever radio station is covering the match your watching

Im an idiot, this was ment to be in the sports streaming thread.

I went CD shopping yesterday in Virgin Megastores, where they had three CDs for £15. So I bought:

Cat Power- What Will The Community Think
Syd Barrett- Opel
Syd Barrett- The Madcap Laughs
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah- Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Björk- Homogenic
Ryan Adams- Heartbreaker
Sigur Rós- ( )
Echo & the Bunnymen- Porcupine
The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster- The Royal Society

Best discount range of CDs I've ever seen really, could have spent lots more.

Yeah, I was in Virgin today and for once they're getting the sale about right (HMV certainly isn't - their promotion on the '1001 CDs you must own' has a few bargains such as Boo Radleys' Giant Steps but most are still too expensive). Plus it looks as if Virgin have brought the prices down on a lot of the non-sale CDs as well. If the wife hadn't been with me to drag me away I would have spent a fortune in there today.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - probably in a three-way tie for my album of the year (OK, I got the US import last year but it's still a UK release this year), along with Bruce Springsteen's 'We Shall Overcome' and, the way this new Bob Dylan album is sounding so far (eight tracks through), 'Modern Times' as well.

My most played artists last week in another fancy chart :)

2) He is a goon, and I think he looks like a big goon in that picture. So I can laugh at him everytime I see my posts

She may have a myspace website. But I'm not sure.

I'd heard alot about her and I have a song by her and The Strokes, which is called Post Modern Girls (I think) and its fantastic!

So I downloaded her new album and so far so good, but thats only one song in ;)

The song she did with The Strokes is called: Modern Girls and Old Fashion Gentlemen and is better than anything on the album Room on Fire. The song was a B-side for Reptillia.

I love love love Regina Spektor. Her music is original and makes me feel happy, she's also really attractive.

Her new album, Begin to Hope, is one of my favourites of this year so far and other good albums she's released are: Soviet Kitsch, Songs and 11:11.

By the way, The View are dreadful...

I streamed the Sunshine Underground album last night and didn't get into it. It's just a rip-off of The Music so far IMO.

Listening to an album by Beirut at the moment, got it last night - and it's great so far. Sounds East European but is by some kid in mid-America.

Also got New Morning by Bob Dylan yesterday - an great set from 1970, really one of his happiest and most relaxed albums. Highly recommended (as is his new album of course - still loving that).

Other purchases - like Comets on Fire, loving Neko Case, and more to come - including Radiodread by the Easy All-Stars (http://www.hyfntrak.com/radiodread/fromafriend), which is a dub/reggae cover version of Radiohead's OK Computer album. I thought it would be terrible but actually really good, especially the Toots and the Maytals version of Let Down, which is brilliant.

Their album, Costello Music, was leaked this morning. Obviously I downloaded it in a flash. Great album, and would highly recomend when it comes out in the shops on Monday.

Also, Kasabian - Empire is spending a fair bit of time in my CD player. It's a grower, and Shoot the Runner is prob my fave track at the mo.
