Ive ordered both these cds - I love Placebo and auntie MAD loves them even more and I thought the first YEAH YEAHs album was brill though Ive read that the newie is not up to the same standard.
Also ordered The Mystery Jets and Graham Coxon newies.
Anybody has anything to say about WOLVES btw? They got an amazing write up by NME a couple of weeks back but NME is notorious for its overennthusiasm so ....

I'm thinking of going out and getting some cds soon, either that or finding them on the net for free like i normally do :p
Been listening to a lot of my Bob Marley cd recently for when I've had a tough school day to help me chill out lol. Kaiser Cheifs and Coldplays latest albums sound really good and I rememebr there was this really good dance album advertised at HMV at the end of alst year. Can't remember what it's called but there were 3 cd's and they still sell them so might buy it if I see it around.
 Someone is gonna laugh when I say this but I'm now listening to Playsation 1 demo hidden music tracks. Basically last night I placed an xbox disc in my computer and got some funky video, so I thought I'll try Playstation and Dreamcast. Dreamcast was just a load of copyright stuff, but the Playstation1 demo disc bought up this piece of music and it is actualy pretty good. If theres a way of putting it on net for you to hear I'll do it.
Honestly it's good. Pretty Relaxing the current one is. PSone's were good for something;) Nah PS1 rules...

Yeah The Rakes are a propper good band. Just flicked on their album as I've not actually heard it for a little while, and it's still as good as I remember. May give it a couple more tracks before I change again to something else.
If you like The Rakes, you should give Good Shoes a blast, very similar style and type of music, but I suppose a little more edgey and punky in general - I'd recomend them for a listen.
I've heard people talk about the Dead 60's on other various forums that I inhabit and they are getting pretty good reviews, I'll search around and get an album of theirs.

Only after you get it will it start noting what songs you've played.
Been listening to Brakes- Give Blood of late. I got it too late last year for it to be in my top 18 for the year, but it would probably be top 10 now. It's a rather superb album much better than British Sea Power's effort for last year.

A very impresive start to 2006 in terms of music releases, thought I'd make a list of some of my favourites:
The Flaming Lips- At War with the Mystics
Total genius. How they manage to better Yoshimi... and come close to The Soft Bulletin is beyond me, but this album is complete magic. Every track is of super high quality.
be your own PET- Be Your Own Pet
I've been rambling on about how great this is for months. It really is super duper. Lived up to all expectations from pre-album singles.
Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan- Ballad of the Broken Seas
I really had no expectations of what this album would be like but I love it. The juxtoposition of vocals works really well and the song writing is of the highest standard. Can't wait for Isobel Campbell's solo effort later this year.
Belle and Sebastian- The Life Pursuit
Lived up to the high standard B&S have maintained for the best part of a decade. Great mixture of songs.
Placebo- Meds
Great return to form. Right up there with the superb debut. Includes two excellent collaborations.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Show Your Bones
I don't remember an album that has quite grown on me as much as this. I was so disapointed after first listen but I gave it time and I really like it. A totally different record than the debut, but this is a good thing, a very good thing.

Recently bought their singles collection "Once more with feeling" a nice album with all their best songs on, so I probably won't be buying meds. Unless you wanna try to convince me otherwise... :)

I signed up with emusic last night - definitely worth it if you're into the more obscure indie and electronica music (although they had things like Bloc Party, Maximo Park and Belle and Sebastian). 40 downloads a month for around 6 pounds ($9.99) and 50 free downloads to start with. So have picked up three albums so far, and still have 30 free tracks left.
You need a credit card and the choice would be very limited for some people (you're not going to find chart music in there) but there's some great music to be had if you have a search around. And it's all legal!

Give me a break...nothing can or will be done.
The only people that have the slight chance of getting into trouble is the people that upload the music, games, movies etc to these P2P programs.
It's just like buying pirate copies of disks, I know someone who bought some at the barralands in Glasgow, the police saw him with them and just took them off him. They are not interested in who buys these, but who is distributing them. And it's the same with downloading.

Thats just a case of a guy getting let off i think mate.
I recall a story about a wee Lassie. She was d/l loads of music for ages and then she ended up getting sued a lot of money. all the music she d/l and i think it was nursary songs or something that she got sued for d/l.
Any p2p program is dodgy. Torrents are just as bad. I agree Will that they are after the distributors, but that dont mean that people who are d/l this stuff aint gonna get in trouble. Any file you d/l without permission from the owner or without Legally purchasing is against the copyright law.
If anyone thinks they are safe just because they dont upload the files then your up a gum tree!!! :)

Either way, the point made was the cutting out of discussion of P2P programs...
Like...P2P on a Codemasters site and all that, linkage...Let it go...we all know the ins and outs of it anyhow but RG did actually ask for the topic of it to be scrapped...
Back on topic...

I think Dirty Pretty Things is mediocre, not a patch on The Libertines, or even Babyshambles (I know its a slightly different style).
The songs can be 'samey' and if you listen to them too much its a bit boring.
The Raconteurs album is alright, not listened to it as much.
However the iforward, russia! album is great, I like most songs on it (a couple arent amazing).

I know it's only my opinion but DPT are nothing short of sheer quality, mediocre is not a word that I'd personally use to discribe them. True, they are not a patch on the Libs (very similar regarding some songs) but they walk all over Babyshambles, and I didn't think that i'd be saying that.
I played DPT to my missus the other night as she's a neutral hence not swayed by the fact that Barat used to be in the Libs so doesn't feel obliged to like them, and the convo went something like this
me: Oi Lu, take a listen to a few of these songs on this new album will ya?
lu: Why?, what rubbish have you bought home from work today?
me: Just listen to it and tell me what you think, yeah?
lu: Ok ...... (20 minutes later) ...... I didn't know that the Libertines have re-formed.
me: Thank you.
