Thats not to say I dont like other bands, but I'd buy any album of trance which for me is easily my favourite genre.

I always buy CDs. I much prefer the CD to having the torrented download.

What about supporting the artist?

I can understand someone not buying all their music, as it would be very expensive, and, perhaps, the record companies deserve it after years of over-charging the public. However, I do think people should at least buy their favourite records. They owe it to the artist.

Maybe bands the size of Radiohead and Coldplay wouldn't miss it, but for up and coming artists it genuinely makes a difference. That's not really the point anyway; the fact is they're potentially giving you years of entertainment.

If you wish everyone was that charitable then why aren't you?

I thought you were the one that didn't believe in breaking the law and all that before, ranting about drinking and drugs or whatever because it was illegal? Why are you not against illegal downloading. It seems far more morally wrong to me than a bit of drug taking.

Not that I'm against illegal downloading, if a band produces a good enough record I'll buy it and so will most people.

Dunno it wasn't that long ago I remember it kinda well, might've been before you started drinking then, you definetely said you didn't but I can't remember if it was that or just the manner in which people drink you objected with.

No, of course I wouldn't want someone in my family taking heroin but not because it would make them a bad person, but because I would obviously be very worried about them.

But that is ridiculous example, I could make a stupid one like you did. Would you rather have a casual cannabis smoker in your family or someone who steals money, TVs and jewellery from old peoples houses?

And also I never said you did do that, I admitted I could be wrong in recollecting it, I searched it and i think I was thinking of the thread about Underage Drinking that Ben made a while back.

yessss, with lyrics which can only be described as beautiful and profound.

Swollen with liquid
Ready to burst
A load of my lymph
Will quench this dead body's thirst
One month in the grave
twisted and half decayed
She turned a putrid yellow
I ****e din her maggot filled *******

****ing the rotting
My semen is bleeding
The smell of decay
Seeps from her genital cavity

The smell was unbearable
As I unburied her
I cum blood from my erection
I feel it run
down her throat, swallow

Eyes glassy and vacant
body dug up to play with
Skin greasy and naked
tounguing her rotted anus

I need a live woman
to fill with my fluid
A delicate girl, to mutilate, **** and kill
her body exceptional
she thought I was normal
but I wanted more

f#cking weird man, feel free to delete or put in a spoiler or whatever, they're awful really.

EDIT: For all you Buckley fans out there, you might like this band, As Cities Burn:

-k_LxAj9B-4

They released a fantastic debut album 4 years ago: Son, I Loved You At Your Darkest - and it was raved about by critics. Quite possibly the post hardcore album of our generation. But their lead singer left, and his brother and band guitarist took over the vocals, and took the band in a more progressive direction. I don't why, and it might be just me, but they remind me of Jeff Buckley (Obviously, not at that level)

It's about time someone else has started taking notice of them!

Technical musicianship, and fantastic vocals. They've dropped the screaming and male/female vocals, and let Sierra sing on her own - granted, it does work. Why you'd want Paramore to be them I don't know.
If only they'd stop recording bloody EPs and release a full length! Still, one of my favourite bands atm.

But the words made us want to buy a bra, wear it until it became fashionable for men to wear bras and then burn that bra in protest and disgust at the ludicrously clichéd portrayal of men within its fake-empowerment verses.

Dan Le Sac vs Scoobius Pip - A Letter From God To Man

Scroobius is a feckin genius, and the use of Radiohead samples just makes this even more brilliant.

"So I’m writing to apologize for all the horrors committed in my name,
Although that was never what I intended, I feel I should take my share of the blame.
All the good I tried to do was corrupted when all the religion got into full swing,
What I thought were quite clear messages were taken to unusual extremes.
My teachings taken out of context to meet the agendas of others,
Interpretations taken to many different ways and hidden meanings discovered

Religion became a tool, for the weak to control the strong
With all these new morals and ethics, survival of the fittest was gone
No longer could the biggest man simply take whatever he needed
‘cause damnation was the price if certain rules were not heeded

Some of the deeds committed in my name just made me wonder were I went wrong.
Back at the start when I created this, the foundation seemed so strong.
See all the elements were already here, long before I began, I just kind of put it all together
I didn’t really think out a long-term plan."

couple of verses there, it just gets better from there.

Don't say that! And their new stuff was always gonna be good, they've not released a thing in 5 years.

They're a seriously cool band, Walk Away from their last album is one of my favourite songs of the 21st century. Few would agree with me but still.

edit: but you're right, ulysses and what she came for off the new album are both proper proper big tunes.

yeah, i mean they're pretty good, i think it always annoyed me how they were always touted as 'the band bloc party are trying to be' which is riiiidiculous. and i wasn't a fan of their more famous stuff either, Dark of the Matinee is pretty damn awesome though.

i'll have to get hold of their new album i think, if it's a bit different to Take Me Out, Do You Wanna and stuff like that.

oh, and we are scientists are my current obsession, i think keith murray is genius and they are brilliant.

LATW- i'd say franz ferdinand were better than the kaiser chiefs (although i'm not a big fan of them at all) but i agree that they're nowhere near the killers.

Agree with the KC part - Kaiser Chiefs are awful, there's nothing original or exciting about them at all.

They over use the whole 'ahhhhhhhh' 'woooooooahh' 'ooooohhh ohhhh' thing, every fckin song. Awful lyrics and the lead singer thinks he's Damon Albarn. And his annoying little looks to the camera, grr.

I can see why some people would like them if they went very little from their music, they're an alright pop band I guess but I wouldn't waste my time.

I hate them with a passion though, to be honest though most people don't need an explanation as to why they're craaap.

To be fair Razorlight's first album was decent. They've gone completely downhill since then and it is true that Johnny Borrel is a bit of a tit.

Don't like the Kaiser Cheifs either, can't understand why they are so popular to be honest. They make boring and bland pop music and the line 'what do you want for tea? i want crisps' from their latest song is quite possibly the worst lyric ever written. But I don't have massive hatred towards them like some people seem to have. If you don't like them don't listen to them, simple really.

KC won't headline. Just won't. Although could be seeing them second top on the main stage =\ I just have a feeling the won't headline. As for Razorlight, they last headlined in 07(?) so they won't be back headlining for a couple of years yet.

i can't believe they EVER let razorlight headline, did they headline the main stage? :| jeeeesus.

in comparison to metallica, rage and the killers they're fúcking nobodies.

tbh i'm not bothered about spending the headline act at the main stage this time, i fancy going to the nme stage and the dance tent/lockup (the cribs were amazing last time headlining the nme stage) but i only caught 3 or 4 songs), so if there is a shít headliner it will work to my advantage.

Yeah.

Alexandra's version of Hallelujah is f*cking me right off. It just has no atmosphere to it whatsoever, and the Jeff Buckley version gave it that, and it's mainly what attracted me to his version. Also, she just completely ruins it with the obligatory key change which is common with most pop rip offs.

That's just it, Mark said that they are on talking terms again, and if they ever got back together it would have to be bigger and better than they were before:
"None of us know exactly what's going to happen. I do know that we're all very stoked to be talking again, laughing and letting the past remain in the past. But we're also coming together after an extremely acrimonious band breakup, a lot of anger and frustration with one another and four years of not talking. I think that we need to get back to a certain point as friends before we could ever take a stage together again, because that's what we always based everything on.

If — and this is a big if — Blink-182 were ever to re-form, it would have to be the most amazing, ridiculous, mind-blowing show and tour ever. I feel like, as bitter as our breakup was, we stepped back at the top of our game, and we'd have to come back even stronger and better than before."

Cash's you can feel his pain in the song, you know its sung by a man whose time on this earth is coming to an end

the way he sings 'I hurt my self today, to see if I see feel' just sets the sombre tone for the whole song.

Depends on what you're definition of punk is, really. I've always thought it was more of an ideology than a specific sound. I mean, the whole point of punk was to be different. I think hip hop groups like Public Enemy or soul singers like Gil-Scott Heron get the meaning of punk way more than the majority of British bands going in the late seventies and early eighties. Apart from a few bands, they were just a bunch of nihilistic skinheads, to be honest, and punk is a lot more than that.

On the subject of Blink-182, though, they're really, really ****.

And Blink-182 are no different from your average boy band, really. They're all aimed at pretty much the same audience. It's no coincidence that the majority of fans eventually grow out of them, and the fact that people are defending them over nostalgic reasons rather than the actual music isn't surprising. I think they're one of many bands that jumped on the bandwagon in the '90s. They signed to the big label and got Jerry Finn to work with them, just like everybody else did (he produced for Green Day, Rancid, Sum 41 etc), and they just got more and more predictable and manufactured. They never strived to do anything different. They were more than happy to keep selling the same stuff that everyone else was at the time.

www.decemberists.com - free download of a track off the new album, looks like its gonna be cool

"No more a rake and no more a bachelor
I was wedded and it whetted my thirst
Until her womb start spilling out babies
Only then did I reckon my curse
Alright, alright, alright
Alright, alright, alright

First came Eziah with his crinkled little fingers
Then came Charlotte and that wretched girl Dawn
Ugly Myfanwy died on delivery
Mercifully taking her mother along
Alright, alright, alright

What can one do when one is widower
Shamefully saddled with three little pests
All that I wanted was the freedom of a new life
So my burden I began to divest
Alright, alright, alright
Alright, alright, alright

Charlotte I buried after feeding her foxglove
Dawn was easy, she was drowned in the bath
Eziah fought but was easily bested
Burned his body for incurring my wrath
Alright, alright, alright"

COOL

zZz - Sound of zZz

Minimalistic synth band from Holland; very similar to Suicide (who I've been really into lately). Other than that, there's this experimental hip hop group called Dälek who are really good. They've got a new album out at the moment called Gutter Tactics: political lyrics over an industrial, Einstürzende Neubauten-esque sound.

Gave Nickel Eye's album a listen to via Spotify, as well, but it seems distinctly average on first listen, as does To Lose My Life... by White Lies (though I wasn't really expecting to like that). Bruce Springsteen's album, however, is surprisingly good.

updated favourite radiohead albums:

These are fantastic. They're a Dutch hip hop group who have this perfect mix of funk, jazz and world music. There's a definite De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest influence. Brace yourself cause we’re all going down.
Watch us run out this race as we burn this place to the ground.
So tell me, is this what you expected?
Cause we’re so screwed.
But we're far from protected.
Or so they promised you.
I’ll say it slow to get it through;
We’re wasting our days as we try to get a grip on our lives.
But they’re slipping away.
And we’re all going to die here.
Unless we can learn to behave.

Quote:
"Avenged Sevenfold is the epitome of what’s wrong with rock and roll. They support Bush. Support the Iraq War. Wouldn’t accept a drink ’cause they have to play the next day, but tell everyone they party. And play to a ****ing DAT tape. However, a couple of them are decent poker players."
