Indeed Dev Haynes what a quality guy. Who'd have though he'd have turned into a solo folk-acoustic artist after his time with Test Icicles. He even later admitted he didn't like the music they were producing, Test Icicles did however start a trend and you can see their influence in a number of new bands today.
Falling Off The Lavendar Bridge is a beautiful album which I played to death when it first came out.

Double post, but, I thought this might interest some people on here.
Bloc Party have launched a mystery count-down on their website, Blocparty.com, with a time counter set to reach zero at 11am (BST) tomorrow (July 7).
The band have not given any indication of what will occur when the counter reaches zero. However, as they are currently working on their fourth album, fans have been speculating about the possibility of the Kele Okereke and co. making a new track available online.
As previously reported in NME magazine, the band are working on new material with producers Jacknife Lee and Paul Epworth in Kent.
Content usually available at Blocparty.com beyond the count-down homepage is now unavailable, leading some fans to suggest that the count-down may be pointing to a new website as oppose to new music.

Give it a few more listens I didn't like it at first but I do now. It's completely different from their debut, with only 'Tired of England' sounding anything like the sort of songs on WTA.
'Best Face' and 'Truth Begins' are my favourite two at the moment. 'Chinese Dogs' sounds so much like The Paddingtons it's kinda creepy.

Bloc Party's debut album and early EPs are awesome, wasn't too impressed with their second album to be honest. But the single 'Flux' was different but good. I shall have to take a listen to this new one now.
edit: I've listened and i'm like WTF someone bring the old Bloc Party back. Where's the guitars gone? I know they are trying something different but on first listen it sounds pretty bad.

08-07-2008, 08:28 AM
I like it but:
It's a grower
There are no guitars
The sorta fractured sound is annoying for the first few listens
It's about 30 seconds too long
However, I love the trumpets and it shows a willingness to play what they want, rather than just releasing singles that will be popular amongst everyone.

In general I can only think of two: Matt Bellamy (Muse) and Thom Yorke (Radiohead), but as a guitarist I have: Matt Bellamy, Johnny Greenwood (Radiohead) and Russell Lissack (Bloc Party). I guess if I had to pick a third in general, probably Dev Hynes (Lightspeed Champion). He's wonderful:love:

Well, he kinda did. He said Pete was a ''musical idol'', but didn't mention Carl, which does give the impression he likes him better...
It's fair enough, obviously; there was no malice intended or anything, just a general question.

OK simple thing you are missing here is that he said the best he had heard, that his opinion and i respect that even if i might not agree with it being the best i have ever heard (see). :) It's just down to difference of opinions, there no need to redicule what he likes just because it is different to you. ;)

F*cking hell fire! Ive said in about 3 posts now , i never said he had one of the best live voices ever , i said! One of the best live voices ive ever heard, god what does it take to get through to you!?
And like i said before and others have said its my opinion why have you taken it mocked it and now be asking others to disagree with it.
And ok so ive never seen them live, but live on tele still gives you a good idea if they have a good voice or not, jesus..
Thanks Ibra Mousey and Ireland for trying to help get through to him .
Extra credit for Ireland for teaching me that ;).
Ireland - I'm not saying hes wrong, im just disagreeing. Theirs a difference.
Brad - Asking others? lol? im glad others dont have the same opinions as me because if every1 did their would be nothing to discuss. Now, if you think that he has the best voice, tell me why? Again, i am disagreeing, not mocking or whatever some1 said. Now another question, is Freddie Mercury better than that guy live?
Mousey - I'm not digging him because he has a good music taste, because ive spoken to him on msn before, however a asked why on his opinion and im entitled to do so.

For the love of God.
Best. Voice. HE. Has. Heard. Live.
He may not have heard Freddie Mercury live. He may have only heard PATD's lead singer live. Either way, you keep missing that quite huge point in this debate.

Sorry for double post but aye I misread the best live singer hes heard bit but I have the right to dispute that, again I'm not mocking him.
Again I havent overreacted, thats mainly down to him and another one of Ireland's lovely posts about drifting on or the other ways tosay it.
Mousey, I dont see what your getting at. I never said that he wasnt the best he'd heard live, but if that is the case then IN MY OPINION his music tastes are too narrow to the type that PATD is or he just hasnt heard the correct people
I dont know.
EDITED AGAIN: Brad, like you I saw him at Wembley, and I think if we asked a million people (fairly) they'd say his voice was better, but then again, opinions.

Still dont make no sense mate, i asked you a question which you ignored, i anwered your questions already.
I think his voice is unique and to able to play and sing at the same time like that is very difficult.
Why do i have to compare him freddy Mercury it was just my opinion :o.
Also tell me this if your mocking me for never seeing them live only on Tv, do tell have you seen freddy Mercury live? If not then you cant really compare the two going by what you've said surely :\.

Listen i just wanted to know why you said i was obsessed with them when i'd posted about them once, that was my only question to you.
You clearly mocked my music taste and knowledge in music and i said it was my opinion and leave it that. :)

Bloc Party singer Kele Okereke claims he was left with severe facial bruising and a split lip following what he alleges was a racist attack by Sex Pistols singer John Lydon. The incident occurred on Saturday evening at the Summercase festival in Barcelona while the bands were socialising backstage.
In an official statement released by Okereke, who is of Nigerian descent, the singer says he approached Lydon and asked him about the possibility of a reunion for Public Image Ltd, the band Lydon formed following the Sex Pistols demise in 1978. In Okereke's words, Lydon became "intimidating and aggressive while his entourage responded with a racist tirade, including the statement, 'your problem is your black attitude'." An assault allegedly ensued in which three people attacked Okereke.
Several other bands witnessed the incident, with Foals' singer YannisPhilippakis and Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson intervening on the Bloc Party singer's behalf. "It's not an issue of the physical assault, even though it was an unprovoked attack," said Okereke. "It is the fact that race was brought into the matter so readily. Someone as respected and as intelligent as Lydon should know better than to bring race into the equation, or socialise with and encourage those who hold such narrow-minded attitudes." He added: "I am disappointed that someone I held with such high regard turns out to be such a bigot." The incident has since been reported to the police in Spain and the UK.
Lydon responds:
The Sex Pistols's John Lydon has hit back at claims he was involved in an "unprovoked racist attack" on Bloc Party's singer, Kele Okereke.
Kele Okereke claimed he was assaulted by Lydon and members of his entourage who had directed a "racist tirade" at him.
Members of Foals and Kaiser Chiefs were said to have stepped in to help the Bloc Party singer.
However, the Sex Pistols frontman has put the incident down to jealousy on Okereke's part.
"I feel very sorry for a man who needs to lie about what was a perfect evening," Lydon said in a statement. "After the show John Rotten and management remained behind to sign autographs, which we did for four solid hours without incident and had a great time talking to other Spanish bands. This seems to have sparked jealousy in certain bands.
"The trouble was brought to us, resulting in those causing the trouble being physically removed by festival security."
He added: "We are in the middle of a wonderful tour, after 30 years we are achieving a true unity in our audience. They are multi-varied, all ages, all races, creeds and colours.
"When you are at a festival with bands who are jealous fools, lies and confusion usually follow. If they need publicity so badly this is the allegation universe they run into."
Lydon concluded by telling Okereke to "grow up and learn to be a true man."
"When you have achieved as much as I have, come back and talk to me," he added. "It's a shame that the wonderful world of the media is riddled with nonsense like this."
Okereke indicated that he has contacted the police both in Spain and in the UK in following the incident, though Lydon did not mention this in his statement. It is currently unclear whether any further action will be taken.

Also a bit off topic, but wondering if anyones worked in HMV or any music store for Work Expierence, and if its been any good?

Must do, yeah. I dunno if I will though, it'll be nice to have a copy of each album but largely pointless when it's all on my PC + iPod, I don't normally listen any other way.
My opinions changed recently in terms of Radiohead albums.

Not really a fan of Radiohead, only heard three of their albums.
In Rainbows > Hail to the Thief > OK Computer
On Tuesday, though, I got an original copy of Disraeli Gears by Cream on vinyl. Only £3 but the disc is scratched a lot, it played through fine, though.

Right, I'll explain myself.
Back when I was about 12, I got into 50 Cent (I was a young chav, yes) and I bought his album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin'.
I found this album earlier, and decided to upload it onto my iTunes.
Since that album, I absolutely despise pretty much everything he has done, but I do quite like that album. Hence, I listened to it earlier.

Matt: I've always thought that aswell about their music choice.
Tbf some of my mates havent got that bad of a music choice, theyre into the usual indie/rock stuff like Oasis or Coldplay, however some others like that Dj Ironik or Dizzie Rascal (tbh, both are W*nk)
Is it me or is Scouting For Girls the most overrated band ever? I personally hate them so much.
