Bought the Velvet Underground & Nico album, a great collection of songs, an amazing, influential band. I'm obsessed with it at the moment.

Madness, the Specials and Bad Manners.
Love the older Ska stuff, from the two tone era. But the newer stuff just isn't the same. I can't get into Less Than Jake for example, especially not with those whiney American vocals.
Been listening to loads of the Sonics too, amazing band.
Ever heard of "Big Hand"? I dunno, its a bit of a shot in the dark but you make like them. Were pretty good when I saw them live

Flawless album, was voted the most influential album ever, it’s my favourite VU album, too. You need to get all their other albums though; they’re all brilliant, each one different, aswell. White Light/White Heat is more on the experimental side, while Loaded is more of a pop record. Their self-titled is kind of a mixture of the two.
What are your favourite songs from it?

Paul Weller has a new album out on Monday, 22 Dreams, anyone gonna get it?
I don't think his solo-stuff is even close to anything he did with the Jam though, tbh.
Im downloading loads of 80s Hair Metal stuff atm, Bands like, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, anyone reccomend anymore?

Cheers anyway.
Downloaded three albums off eMusic today:
Satanic Panic in the Attic - Of Montreal
Boy with the Arab Strap - Belle and Sebastian
Antics - Interpol
Never really listened to much Interpol before, should have though, excellent album, and I'll have to pick up Turn On the Bright Lights at some point.
Listened to most of the other two albums before, but never actually got round to purchasing them, both very good albums.

Few mates have started listening to the Libertines (after years of me arguing Pete isn't ''just a smack-head''). Wish they wouldn't just listen to Can't Stand Me Now, though, they're so much more than a one-song band.
Odessey & Oracle - The Zombies
Any Beatles fan should give it a listen.
Thinkin' of buying a Alice Cooper album aswell, Trash is the most popular so i'll probably start with that, anyone else listen to them?

I was looking through some older posts and noticed you say that before, do you think it's cos the Libertines (particularly on Up The Bracket) have a more 'raw' sound, whereas in Dirty Pretty Things the instruments are played to a higher standard?

I'm not sure, but thats a good point. I have Up the Bracket & The Libertines and they just don't have the same appeal as Waterloo to Anywhere. Still both albums are very good, and I would urge anyone who cannot stand Pete Doherty to just try them, cause you will be surprised (I was)

Personally I think The Libertines were much than DPT. Up The Bracket is up there with my favourite albums ever. Waterloo To Anywhere is a good album as well but for me comes no where near the standard of The Libs material. You could pick almost any Libertines song (check out B-sides & old demos if you haven't already done so) and say yep I like that one. DLBITS & Time For Heroes have got to be my favourites though
I am looking forward to DPT's second album though hopefully it will be as good if not better than their first.

Kurt Cobain's ashes have apparently been stolen.
According to the News Of The World, the Nirvana frontman's remains – the location of which has previously been kept secret – were taken from the Los Angeles home of his widow Courtney Love.
The ashes were said to have been kept in a "pink teddy bear-shaped bag along with a lock of his hair" and were taken with some jewellery and clothes.
Love is quoted by the paper as saying: "I can't believe anyone would take Kurt's ashes from me. I find it disgusting and right now I'm suicidal. If I don't get them back I don't know what I'll do."
Some of the Nirvana frontman's ashes were previously scattered near his home in Washington State and some at a New York Buddhist temple, with his widow retaining the rest.
She added: "They were all I had left of my husband. I used to take them everywhere with me just so I could feel Kurt was still with me. Now it feels like I have lost him all over again."

Hello, hello. my names terry and Im a law abider
Theres nothing I like more than getting fired up on beer
And when the weekends here I to exercise my right to get paralytic and fight
Good bloke fairly
But I get well leery when geezers look at me funny
Bounce em round like bunnies
Im likely to cause mischief
Good clean grief you must believe and I aint no thief.
Law abiding and all, all legal.
And who cares about my liver when it feels good
Wwhat you need is some real manhood.
Rasher rasher barney and kasha putting peoples backs up.
Public disorder, Ill give you public disorder.
I down eight pints and run all over the place
Spit in the face of an officer
See if that bothers you cause I never broke a law in my life
Someday Im gonna settle down with a wife
Come on lads lets have another fight
Eh hello. my names tim and Im a criminal,
In the eyes of society I need to be in jail
For the choice of herbs I inhale.
This aint no wholesale operation
Just a few eighths and some playstations mys vocation
I pose a threat to the nation
And down the station the police hold no patients
Lets talk space and time
I like to get deep sometimes and think about einstein
And carl young and old kung fu movies I like to see
Pass the hydrator please
Yeah Im floating on thin air.
Going to amsterdam in the new year - top gear there
Cause I taker pride in my hobby
Home made bongs using my engineering degree
Dear leaders, please legalise weed for these reasons.
Like I was saying to him.
I told him: top with me and you wont leave.
So I smacked him in the head and downed another carling
Bada bada bing for the lads night.
Mad fight, his faces a sad sight.
Vodka and snake bite.
Going on like a right geez, hes a ****,
Shouldnt have looked at me like that.
Anyway Im an upstanding citizen
If a war came along Id be on the front line with em.
Cant stand crime either them hooligans on heroin.
Drugs and criminals those thugs on the penny coloured will be the downfall of society
Ive got all the anger pent up inside of me.
You know I dont see why I should be the criminal
How can something with no recorded fatalities be illegal
And how many deaths are there per year from alcohol
I just completed gran tourismo on the hardest setting
We pose no threat on my settee
Ooh the pizzas here will someone let him in please
We didnt order chicken, not a problem well pick it out
I doubt they meant to mess us about
After all were all adults not louts.
As I was saying, were friendly peaceful people
Were not the ones out there causing trouble.
We just sit in this hazy bubble with our quarters
Discussing how beautiful gail porter is.
Mtv, bbc 2, channel 4 is on until six in the morning.
Then at six in the morning the sun dawns and its my bedtime.
Causing trouble, your stinking rabble
Boys saying Im the lad whos spoiling it
Youre on drugs it really bugs me when people try and tell me Im a thug
Just for getting drunk
I like getting drunk
Cause Im an upstanding citizen
If a war came along Id be on the front line with em.
Now terry youre repeating yourself
But thats okay drunk people cant help that.
A chemical reaction inside your brain causes you to forget what youre saying.
What. I know exactly what Im saying
Im perfectly sane
You stinking student lameo
Go get a job and stop robbing us of our taxes.
Err, well actually according to research
Government funding for further education pales in insignificance
When compared to how much they spend on repairing
Leery drunk people at the weekend
In casualty wards all over the land.
Why you cheeky little swine come here
Im gonna batter you. come here.
(y) the irony of it all - the streets
legend.

I listened through Vampire Weekend's album and it's awful, by adding some African drums you don't make the transition from pop to art rock/experimental etc. The whole album was just boring.

Pork And Beans

Coldplay's new album is AWESOME

Viva la Vida - Coldplay

Coldplay's new album is atrocious. Well, slight exaggeration. To be honest, I think it's a poor effort up until 'Yes' after that i think it's a very good album. The first few songs, '42' springs to mind, are musically boring in my opinion and they're married with crap lyrics. Something which Chris Martin is very good at. Don't want to dampen anyone's fires but I think it's their weakest album yet. But that's me, I'm not the biggest fan of Coldplay. I do think some of their songs are crap, some of their lyrics are pathetic and they're just a bit one dimensional. But I do like 'Yes', 'Viva La Vida', 'Violet Hill' and 'Death And All His Friends'. But the first half of the album is very, very uninteresting.
Still, I think out of their 4 albums, this is the worst. Easily.

Dirty Pretty Things' Carl Barat Rushed to Hospital
Libertine diagnosed with acute pancreatitis.
Dirty Pretty Things frontman Carl Barat was rushed to hospital yesterday morning (June 17) with stomach pains, and has now been diagnosed with acute pancreatitis.
Barat's spokesperson explained that the singer and guitarist is being kept under observation until the weekend (June 21).
He will undergo further tests and may be operated on.
As a result of Barat's hospitalisation, Dirty Pretty Things have postponed their Real Fits fundraiser gig, which had been set to take place at the London Hackney Round Chapel on Friday (June 20).

I'm not sure if its cause of alcohol, dont think it would be the pancreas...
Yeah, I thought it was just the liver that dealt with alcohol. But...
''Nevertheless, long-term alcohol abuse remains a leading cause of both acute and chronic pancreatitis in industrialized nations.
It's not clear in all instances just how alcohol affects the pancreas. But scientists do know that alcohol causes digestive enzymes to be released sooner than normal.''

'I Was Made to Love Magic' is my favourite of his. I've got his three albums, and this compilation of some unreleased songs.

David Bowie - Greatest Hits
All on vinyl. They were all a pound except the Doors' Best Of (£3) and Ziggy Stardust (£2).

Pre-ordered Dirty Pretty Things' new album.
I'm undecided on it at the moment. Listened through it a couple of times don't really like their slower songs, I much prefer the high tempo rock tracks we saw on Waterloo To Anywhere. Chinese Dogs (which was originally a B-Side believe) is the stand out song on the album for me.
As I said only listened to it twice so it may grow on me after a few more listens but intial feeling is disappointment don't like the fact that Carl's vocals are used considerably less on this album because the other band members vocals just don't do it for me.

And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived, and...then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall, and
And he came to a door...and he looked inside

MGMT (http://www.last.fm/music/MGMT) are a psychedelic synthpop group from Brooklyn, New York.
Their latest album, Oracular Spectuclar is one of my favourites of the year so far.
And Yeah Electric Feel is a damn cathcy song sounds like it belongs in the 80s somewhere though. They are probably not everyone's cup of tea but I think they're awesome.
