Got their new album, but there songs sound too similar for my liking =/ They have some great songs, classic songs, but on their new album some tracks seem more filler then killer. But that's just me, I have only listened to it a few times, and I am not a hardcore Foo Fighters fan.

Roughly how many of them are acoustic/live?
Been listening to Drop Dead, Gorgeous alot the past few days, good band, nothing great, lots of potential though. Their new album is about a serial killer, intriguing stuff. There is a lyric that I love though:
"I want to have a word with you,
I'd like to have my way with you.
I'd like to take my time with you.
I'd like to lose my mind with you.

Casually dressed is a superb album, if someone like U2 released an album of that quality it would be regarded as one of the best albums to date. But that's just my, very, very biased opinion.

Listening to new Radiohead album a lot recentley, it is rather brilliant. Grown on me a lot since I first heard it. Also liking the Hives new single may have to take a listen to their new album.
A lot of people, one or two, have being saying 'In Rainbows' is pretty amazing. I don't reckon that much to it to be frank. It has some good tracks, don't get me wrong, but nothing stands out from the album like Karma Police, Street Sprit, Fake Plastic Trees, Creep, etc. Might grow on me more in time, who knows?

TV music talent shows can be good to watch (well outside X Factor they aint realy) but the singer that come out of them get annoying very quickly. Just look at Leona Lewis, robbed a decent Take That song of #1.

You wwouldn't even be able to make a market in Walthamstow never mind the music industry ;)
You do get some good non mainstream bands, but as you said rock is the most popular industry. If a band is experienced yet hasn't made it mainstream, surely the underlining reason is that they're not good enough.

The Smiths - Queen Is Dead
The Strokes - Room On Fire
The Beatles - The White Album
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Downloaded a few songs from Joy Division, The Kinks and The Cure aswell.
Also, Is it just me or does the fact The Arctic Monkeys are the most over-rated band ever! Annoy you? I mean, MTV2 voted 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' the best ever 'indie anthem.'
Q voted them the 4th best British band. I don't have anything against them, it's more against the people who over-rate them so much i guess, I mean there ok, just nothing spectacular in my opinion.
I don't wanna come across so that it looks like I don't listen to the them because I wanna be different or summet and I understand that your taste in music is your own opinion, but I think there just so over-rated it's unreal! Is it just me?

I dont think they are that overrated just very hyped up thats all. The songs all relate to real life today, with chavs, pulling ugly birds in the dark, mid life crisis'.

I am loving Chiodos atm, the vocalist is unbelievably good. They are a post-hardcore band, but one you will either love or hate due to the distinctness of the vocalist, he sounds like Coheeds & Cambria's singer.
Apparently Chiodos are amazing live, I am watching some live videos of them, and the vocalist sounds like he does on CD.

I found Zavvi (awful new name for "Virgin Megastores") were the robbing gits this week - I decided to go on a classic album spree yesterday:
60s albums:
Rolling Stones - Flowers
Tim Buckley (father of Jeff) - Goodbye and Hello/Tim Buckey
70s albums:
Gram Parsons (underappreciated country rock singer) - GP/Grevious Angel
80s albums:
The Smiths - The Smiths (amazingly I've never owned this)
REM - Green
The Pogues - Rum, Sodomy and the Lash
So far listened to the first three and they're all really good.

Also for those who liked Mono in VCF when I mentioned them in the summer, their debut album is out on Wednesday to download from their site http://www.monoinvcf.com.
Don't know how much it'll cost yet, but I'll be downloading it first thing Wednesday morning. After the early tracks I heard a few months back this album will probably go top five in my best of the year, it's that good.

RG..... I usually find Virgin to be quit cheap as they have good multi buy offers on older cd's seems out of character if you like of them to be expensive.
Amon Tobin - Foley Room. Strange electronic music. About to get a Tim Buckley album didn't know his father was also a musician and also he died young too which is strange.

For those listening to Sean Kingston, download his whole album. It's quality.
In particular, 'Your Sister' is a great tune, the best on his album. Will probably be released soon, and a bigger hit than 'Beautiful Girls' I reckon.

Pfff, Hot Fuss has to much filler
Tbh, HTTT is even with The Bends. Has a couple of songs that could of been cut out tbh, but the rest is brilliant. Ok Computer, Kid A and In Rainbows are perfect IMO.

I prefer Hot Fuss, purely for Mr. Brightside. After track 6, Hot Fuss is pretty average, Sam's town is good from start to finish. Mr Brightside imo, pretty much carries Hot Fuss

Actually the first 5 tracks on Hot fuss are brilliant but after that it's quite poor. Sam's town has much more songs that I personally liked so for me it's better.

If you're ever stuck for a iTunes playlist, there's loads of NME "Best of" lists here including the "best singles ever" list mentioned above:
http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk/nmeindex.html
And if you want a collection of the best albums ever, this was NME'S top 100 of 1993 list, which I personally think is better than the 2003 list they did:
http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk/nme_writers.htm#100_93
I remember buying the NME issue with that top 100 in - I would have been in the upper sixth form (year 13) at the time. Ahhappy days.
Currently listening to Mono in VCF's debut album - I've gone on about this band a lot over the last few month, but the album's finally available today and it's fantastic. Probably in my top 5 of the year and once this band get noticed they'll be huge. The sound they come out with is amazing; brilliant late 60s pop music.
