The Kill- 30 Seconds To Mars
General consensus on this song? It's pretty good actually IMO, nothing like my usual type of music, it's a bit emo for me tbh, but everyone is raving about it.
Over hyped and over rated imho.

Tbh I think that's a terrible cover. The Zutons original was quality but they've spoilt it IMO.

New Radiohead album out next week, on download only to start with. To combat the pirates it costs "whatever you want to pay for it", so if you think it's worth £0 you put that in (45p transaction fee added).
I've ordered, and paid what I think a download is worth ;)

Been listening to The Dykeenies alot today, one of the tracks from the new album 'New Idea's' is probaly my favourite. I went to see the band at HMV a few weeks ago and they done a cover of Bowie's 'Starman', granted it aint as good as the orignal but they covered it very well so I bought it on itunes, cant stop listening to it.
Also loving Scouting For Girls atm. :)

Three quarters of the way through the year and it's time for quarterly update of my favourites of 2007 so far.
There's fifteen 4 and 5 star-rated albums on my iTunes 2007 playlist, so by the end there'll be a round twenty no doubt. Hope so, makes writing my top 20 of the year dead easy ;)
Still top at the moment (and so far the only 5 star-rated album of the year for me) is Arcade Fire's 'Neon Bible' album - a classic, and one I've played to death on car journeys this year. Brilliant brilliant brilliant.
Also liable to appear in the top 10-20 - in alphabetical order - Bishop Allen, Bryan Ferry (yeah, I know, but his Dylan covers album is superb), Caribou, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Deer Tick, Eluvium, LCD Soundsystem, The Lovetones, Maps, Okkervil River, Panda Bear, The Shins, Shout Out Louds and Studio.
Knowing my weird taste in music I bet most of you haven't heard of about ten of these, but they're all worth a try (depending on your tastes in music of course - Studio, for example, a lot of people would hate!).
What's interesting is the breakdown of where these bands come from - nine from the US, two British, two Swedish, one Canadian and one Aussie. Whether that means my tastes are more centred towards the USA nowadays, or the USA is coming out with better music than the UK, I don't know. Probably a bit of both...
Two and half months left of the music for this year - looking forward to exploring some new music, obviously starting with Radiohead's new album next week. Fingers crossed on that one.

Coming out of my cage
And I've been doing just fine
Gotta gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this?
It was only a kiss
It was only a kiss
Now I'm falling asleep
And she's calling a cab
While he's having a smoke
And she's taking the drag
Now they're going to bed
And my stomach is sick
And it's all in my head
But she's touching his chest now
He takes off her dress now
Let me go
And I just can't look
It's killing me
And taking control
Jealousy
Turning saints into the sea
Turning through sick lullaby
Joking on your alibi
But it's just the price I pay
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
I'm Mr. Brightside

I only have the album City of Evil, and it's surely not screamo, but in a few songs for a short time, it sounds like they are I will admit.
Although on Last.fm a few of their otehr albums have been classed as screamo.. meh.

I've been listening to the Mars Volta over the weekend. It's...different. Looking forward to seeing them next month though!
By the way, watch out for a band called Snow Patrol. I've been a fan for a few years, I saw them in June 1999, and they've been hovering just under the surface of greatness since then. Their next single should be the one. It's an awesome anthem called "Run" and it's one of my favourite songs of the year, not out till January though.
Just looking through the thread and I saw this. How right was he? :D

The Velvet Underground and Nico is fantabyhooby. Great album.
Bit late on this one, but my God that's a overrated album. There's a couple of quality songs on there but there's so much unlistenable stuff as well, all of which really grates.
Much prefer later Velvet Underground albums like "Loaded", or Lou Reed on his own - "Transformer" for example (now there's a classic album).
