metallica one, I shut my eyes for whole of this masterpiece, the guitars and the feel of this song are unbelievable.
The story the song tells is touching and you can feel the emotions of the man who the song is based on.

Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
The Stranglers - Golden Brown
Lou Reed - Perfect Day

Are all classic songs. Don't know if best but classics.

Today it's mostly been a return to the old school and lots of Smashing Pumpkins songs - their first three albums plus the Peel Sessions EP. Great stuff.

Best album of the week so far is the Okkervil River album - got half of it at the moment, downloading the other half tonight. Great indie rock that, based on the first couple of listens, will make it into my top 40 of the year...

Also recommended - Mono in VCF. Mentioned this new band to several forumites via last.fm - they sound *brilliant*. A lot like Portishead mixed with 60s James Bond themes. Only demos at the present time but absolutely great music and if they keep up the quality for their debut album, it'll be top five of the year, easy.

Haven't really posted too much on this thread so I'll name a few bands I like to get started I suppose.

I like mostly British music like The Clash, Babyshambles, The Libertines, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Cribs, Sunshine Underground, Jamie T etc

But theres still lots of overseas bands I like - The Strokes, Kings Of Leon, Ghosts, The Vines, The Actual, Modest Mouse etc etc

I'm also getting into music from The Infadels, Goose, Kubichek!, Milburn, Hadouken! and other electro sort of bands like that.

Obviously more but not much need in writing a big list tbh. :)

Such a relaxing album, it's brilliant. One of the five best albums I've got this year, along with The Magic Position (Patrick Wolf), Puzzle (Biffy Clyro), We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank (Modest Mouse) and Favourite Worst Nightmare (Arctic Monkeys).

Yesh, one of my favourite albums of the year aswell despite me not buying a single one... :o

Listening to it again at the moment - it's a surprisingly good album, but some songs are a rip off of The Jam and the title track is an very similar version of "I Don't Like Mondays" by the Boomtown Rats.

True, but don't you think they should venture into different genres or sub-genres a little? Instead of staying in a style where they know they're safe. Still, top quality stuff.

"And this is for... Any white boy who thinks he knows my struggle cause he listens to pac and his adrenaline doubles, now I ain't got trouble with you being yourself but when you front and use the n word it just don't help, I might not trip and your friend'll laugh at you but I know some real n'ers and they'll straight up slap you, now you can be down but let's act grown up cause we ain't the same colour when the police show up, my culture's not a trend being black's not in but for you it's just a faze that you'll have to transcend, while even if I tried I could never blend in to soceity's mainstream american dream, yeah it's all one love but remember one thing this music is my life not a cultural thing it's an expression of the soul when we dance and sing and you're blessed to have a chance to even glance the scene." :D

Also, Ghost of a Thousand should of won best British Newcomer.

Hahahahaha:lol:
Good lyrics, i don't know about that, the song is crazy!
His album is good though, uncomfortably slow is an awesome song. Gone in the morning is also a strange song (about dreams) but not bad at all. I would recommend the album. It's called Handbuilt by Robots.

'Away From Here' is more of an anthem that will probably be remembered for many years to come. Personally 'You're Not Alone just' edges it for me. They are a great new band though.
