I bought Roots Manuva - Awefully deep today (well yesterday lol), first in 2 months or so. Really good, loving Chin High though:thumbs:
Alos listening to a bit of "Up All Night" by Razorlight which I got for christmas, Vice is cool:)
I was going to buy Doves- some Cities today, but thought I'd go for Roots, since Cossal Insight was good when I first heard it.
Think my next album will be Doves -some Cities or Mylo - Destroy Rock And Roll, I've heard the song of the same name as that, and that I like!:D

It's slightly off my taste in Rock, but from what I've seen they have made pretty good impact. I've seen a couple of video's they've done with mixed ratings for them really. The "i'm not Okay" (?) is fair good imo while "Helen/Helena/something along those lines" is a bit iffy. Sorry i'm not positive on either name of the songs, you will probably be able to correct me on that!

I was in Virgin yesterday and they had this offer on. Me and my Dad usually take advantage of these 'too good to resist' offers, and we did. It was 5 for £30 on various CDs and DVD's, so we got: Stereophonics- Performance and Cocktails, Thin Lizzy- Greatest Hits, The Album Vol. 3 (Good compilation) and The Smashing Pumpkins- Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.
I have always known about The Smashing Pumpkins without knowing any of their songs. I have been listening to the album as much as possible since getting it now. Believe me, it is absolutely stunning. I would say it is one of the best rock albums from the 90's. Very, very recommended.

One of my favourite Stereophonics songs is "Home to Me" but it was never on one of their albums, it was a b-side to A thousand tree's, as far as i can remember.
Ever heard it?

The new album (Language, Violence, Sex, Other?) is excellent, but completely different to the other ablums, much more rock based than the older, slower songs. Definataly worth a listen in my oppinion! :)

Good work.
Been listening to this since i got it on Monday. It's not as instantly likable as Toxicity and not as dark and hard as SOAD, but it's a progression. They are still a little unbalenced and know how to write and thrash out a good tune.
Just hope they are just as good live, we'll see in the MEN, eh?

Absolutely :) Can't wait. They seem to have kept their randomness side to them still which I like, for example one song like BYOB is one of the most political songs out there, while a song or two later they are shouting about how his willies bigger than mine. Thoroughly enjoyable album besides the first Hollywood one.
Made myself a SOAD CD for the car- Chic n Stu, Prison Song, Aerials, Roulette, Toxicity, BYOB, Radio/Video, Chop Suey, Bounce, Violent Pornography, Cigaro and Revenga. Jobs a goodun!

God, this thread back from the dead.
Maximo Park album is the latest greatest thing I've bought. Very cool tracks - not as good as The Futureheads debut but there's some cracking singles on there. 'Apply Some Pressure' is single of the year so far for me.
Also bought an old Wire album (Pink Flag) from 1977 as well, but I doubt many people would know them - very strange punk/postpunk band. Wote the template that was copied by many punky bands today.
Don't mind the Libertines at all - both of their albums are cool, second one slightly better.

I can't wait either. If the first single is anything to go by, it's going to be awesome. I am going to buy it because of their previous four being so fantastic.
Foo Fighters' new one should be good too. It has to be something special when the lead singer declares it as their best work. It sounds interesting, it being half accoustic and half non-accoustic.

OK cool, I've read a couple of reviews saying overproduced, someone even said sounded like elevator music! Not seen the NME review yet though I expect they will give it a kicking as it's probably not "fashionable" enough for them anymore.
Mind you they loved the White Stripes album and that's anything but fashionable!!! It's a really odd one, the songs just about shine through, but it reminds me of a lot of the acousticy ones I tend to skip on older albums, I like the bluesy guitar ones and they're a bit thin on the ground on the new LP

I'm actually going to see Alan Fletcher (aka Karl Kennedy of Neighbours) and his band, 'Waiting Room', this coming Saturday, as he's performing down at our Union.
Should be interesting; he's up on stage just before midnight, so I should be pretty wasted by then and I'll probably think the music's good no matter what.
I do have a strange feeling that this may be the one and only time that I listen to 'Waiting Room' though . . .

I have Appetite for Destruction. Wouldn't really recommend it. All their decent songs are on the Greatest hits.
I've been absolutley hammering my ears with The White Stripes, in preperation for the new album (Get behind me Satan) (Out Monday). My favourite album of theirs is, De Stijl closely followed by White Blood Cells. Then is the infamous Elephant closely followed by The White Stripes. I don't think there is a single song from the 60 I have, that I don't like. Super, super band.

Alan Fletcher - Waiting Room
*Potential Neighbours spoiler*
His rendition of 'Obviously' by kiddie group McFly, in which he wittingly change the lyrics to:
"It's obviously Susan for me . . ."
*End of potential Neighbours spoiler*
He also sang Hey Jude, and some other track which I just caught the end of.
Buy the album - In the Waiting Room - now!
Lyrics / track previews / band information / sales at www.alanfletcher.net
I also got a personally signed copy of the album, which I bought for only £10.
And for the Neighbours fans, I ask how he managed to make two phone calls prior to having a heart attack - he had no comment . . .

After properly listening to the album - In the Waiting Room - I can say that I am actually quite surprised that it is actually quite good.
There are a few songs that stick out, and have an 'earworm' effect - such as 'I'm in this Thing' and 'Mattress on the Floor' (which I'm currently using as my ringtone for the time-being ;)), and for the Liverpool fans, his version of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' isn't too bad either.
Alan Fletcher could become the male equivalent of Kylie!

A big day, today in terms of music purchases. My Dad loves Coldplay so of course had to have their new album. He got me Get Behind me Satan while he was at the shop. My mate also gave me Don't Believe the Truth to put on my iPod.
The new Coldplay album, is as expected, unbelievable. I haven't listened to it much, but it's all good from the first few playings. Haven't listened to Oasis once so I'll talk about that later. Get behind me Satan is brilliant. As Seeph has been telling me, it's very different to their other stuff, but it's still great. I recommend both of these.

I've got all the GNR albums (yes, hard to believe but I used to love my RAWK music).
Appetite For Destruction is a real rock n' roll album, great debut and the tracks are very good. Sweet Child O' Mine is pretty terrible but it's the kind of thing you would like SF...
Then there's the EP/mini-album called Lies - fantastic if you like dark and dirty rock, even the two more acoustic numbers, Patience and One in a Million are really cracking tunes (One in a Million was infamous for being -phobic to every group of people you could mention - foreigners, gay people, women etc). It's not the first album you should buy from them but worth the fiver it'll cost.
Then there's Use Your Illusion 1 and 2 - both released the same day in 1991 (ah, I remember that day...). Both are completely overblown stadium rock with loads of ballads - there's some great stuff to be found among the also-rans. For the better rock stuff go for number 1, for the power ballads go for number 2.
Then finally there's the Spagetti Incident mini-album which really isn't that great, it's just an album of old punk song covers.
I'd go for Appetite first, or try the Greatest Hits and see which ones you like.

Listened to the White Stripes album on iTunes and I have to say I do like it a lot. There's some weirdness going on in there (Little Ghost) and some that that aren't the best (Instinct Blues) but the general standard is excellent. My Doorbell, Blue Orchid, The Denial Twist Red Rain (sounding remarkably like Led Zeppelin), even the very scary little tune Passive Manipulation are all top quality.
A lot of the tracks remind me of the Beggars Banquet album by The Rolling Stones (great album from the late 1960s). Really good album so far - looking forward to purchasing it later this week - might take a long lunch tomorrow to pick it up.
One thing about the NME link above - the review mentions a song called The Wreck. Is that on the album as it's not listed on iTunes or the Amazon listing?

True, but why buy an album, spending £15 and find out there is only 4 songs out of 20 that you like? I rather just download tracks I know that are good for free, rather than buying an album for £15 and seeing if there are any hidden gems on an album.

Yep :p
I resent paying £10 - £15 for a CD. So if i do it like this then buy them real when there cheaper!
I think the music industry should make CD's cheaper, about £5 - £7. Because more people would buy them so they would still make the same amount of money if not more and this would lower file sharing!

Yeah, why spend £10 - £15 on CD, when you can use the money to go out with your mates?

If they did lower the prices it certainly would lower file sharing, theres not too much you can do with £5 - £7, so people would just go out and buy a CD if the music industry lowered the prices, but I can't see the prices being lowered, as all industries are, the music industry is money hungry. Unfortunantly.

Picked up the Offspring's Greatest Hits on Monday, well worth the dosh. Classic songs to put on first include Track 3 (Self Esteem) and Track 9 (The Kids Aren't Alright). Track 5, All I Want, is a great adrenaline-fueled 2 minute track, which might sound familiar to those who had/have Crazy Taxi.

Good album that is. I heard it was voted one of the best albums of all time (actually I can't remember where it was but I know it was high up on one of those top 100 programmes)
Anyway I'm not fussed about what music I like, but my favourite types are pop, reggae and a bit of rock (not hardcore grunge rock that makes you depressed and have hair down to your knees) more like Queen etc.
