After initials doubts, I'm starting to get into Neon Bible by the Arcade Fire. It's a good album and after months of exploration will become a great album. There are no bad tracks, but certainly weaker moments. Like most albums to accompany the weaker moments there are superb moments. On Neon Bible the standouts are Antichrist Television Blues and No Cars Go. I didn't understand why they were putting No Cars Go on this album when I saw the tracklistings a few months ago because it features on their early self-titled EP, however, on first listen to the album, it was the only mind-blowingly awesome track. It has been re-recorded to perfection. The orchestral bits are magical. Get this album now kids :).

You do know there are more words to the song ?

Let it never be said, that romance is dead
Cos there’s so little else occupying my head
There is nothing I need except the function to breathe
But I’m not really fussed, doesn’t matter to me

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby
Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa
Do ya, do ya, do ya, do ya
Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa
Know what ya doing, doing to me?
Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa
Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby
Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa

Due to lack of interest tomorrow is cancelled
Let the clocks be reset and the pendulums held
Cos there’s nothing at all except the space in between
Finding out what you’re called and repeating your name

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby
Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa
Do ya, do ya, do ya, do ya
Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa
Know what ya doing, doing to me?
Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa
Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby
Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa, aaaa

Could it be, could it be that you’re joking with me
And you don’t really see you with me
Could it be, could it be that you’re joking with me
And you don’t really see you with me

[Instrumental]

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby
Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa
Do ya, do ya, do ya, do ya
Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa
Know what ya doing, doing to me?
Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa
Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby
Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa
Do ya, do ya, do ya, do ya
Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa (Da da da, da da da)
What ya doing, doing to me?
Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa, aaaa (Da da da)

I think it's probably their third best album, their turning into more of a pop band with each album they release, but it hasn't stopped me seeing them at Hammersmith Palais, and going to see them at Brixton Academy soon...

B-Side To Your Tongue: Not a great album as a debut, really too poor...
Take This To Your Grave: Very good album, great sounds, good songs...
Evening Out With Your Girlfriend: Pretty much soft, although still some good tunes...
From Under The Cork Tree: My favourite album, great mix of sounds, and some quality tracks!
Infinity On High: Still reasonably good, although Golden is depressing, and they are getting more pop-rock.

The lead single off the new album, Bird Flu, is absolutely bonkers, but in a good way.

BTW - recommendation for you - The Besnard Lakes' album ("The Besnard Lakes are the Dark Horse"). Indie-rock with a lead singer that sounds Brian Wilson - like a scuzzy rock version of Panda Bear IMO. Having a first run through the album at the moment and it's thrilling so far.

1. The Bloc Party album is on the car cd currently and its growing on me ... but no matter what its not a patch on Silent Alarm. Most of the fault lies with the very weird orchestration and a production thats too dense ...

2. I bought Arular by MIA but I didnt like it and only listened to it 4/5 times (this VERY rarely happens with me).

3. The Besnard Lakes is something that I ll invest in in the near future as well as the Panda Bear cd on Charlton fans recommendation. I also got the Klaxon's newie recently but havent given it a spin yet ... oh and The Good the Bad and the Queen album is nice albeit a pale imitation of The Specials.

Listening to it again now (third time today) and it's a great album - easily one of the best of the year so far I think.

From Amazon - "The Besnard Lakes Are The Dark Horse' is the second album from Montreal based six piece The Besnard Lakes. Recorded byfront man Jace Lasek (Wolf Parade, Islands, Stars) the album sees the band mix Beach Boys-esque harmonies and reverb drenched guitars and vocals with blissful indie-pop. Guest appearances come from members of The Dears, Godspeed You Black Emperor and Stars."

Spot on description from what I've heard.

---

And good on you for listening to 80s Bowie - his lean period ("sh*t period" to most people). A lot of his songs from that era are certainly not that good, but 1983's 'Let's Dance' album is fine as it goes, and the album prior to that, 1980's 'Scary Monsters', is the last of his classic albums (Ashes to Ashes is on that one, for example).

However his 1987 album 'Tonight' is bad (and this from a Bowie fan like myself), but that, to be fair, does have the excellent 'Loving the Alien' on it. And then there's his ill-fated group, Tin Machine, which I hated when I was 13 and they were in the charts in the late 80s, and I still can't stand now.

Listened to ''Good news for people who love bad news'' (Modest Mouse) all the way through today, thought it was really good, as is ''We were dead before the ship even sank''. I've just got ''Building nothing out of something'' so I'll give that a listen tomorrow. Still have to get Moon & Antarctica though, that should be good.

Listened through Ok Computer aswell, which has grown on me more. I think you have to listen to most Radiohead songs a few times before they start to grow on you, but yeah they've grown now.

Still completing the Smiths collection, rearranging the songs into the albums on itunes, bit time consuming but meh.

I listened to a Yeah yeah yeahs album (well I listened to about 6 tracks, still not finished) but they're good, at the moment, nothing more. Hopefully they'll grow on me.

Completed my Tokyo Police Club - A Lesson In Crime album now too, that's good, but again, it needs to grow on me.

Can't be bothered to name much more, but I've been listening to a bit of The Pogues, which is good in its own sort of way.

Just downloaded the smiths disography 10 albums of bt junkie, why not do that?

Listening to it the new album for the first time at the moment - enjoyed the first two tracks, 'Heat Dies Down' is pretty average, but as I've said before, Kaiser Chiefs are one of guilty pleasures!

Oh, and the 'The Triptych' album in my sig is a new CD mixed by Fred Deakins (from Lemon Jelly) - amazingly it's got 90 tracks across three CDs, and is like the best mix/compilation tape ever. The amount of stuff on there (and the musical styles it covers) is just mind-blowing. It's a whole night's house party in a box - most of the stuff I've never heard but that doesn't stop it being awesome.

Really haven't listened to it much. To say the least it's not immediate, I can't seem to get into it... I'll try it again today, I don't like to give up on albums.

Illmatic was the album that got me into good rap/hip hop.

Might give it a bash someday, I do try anything, I mean last year (or the year before) I really enjoyed The Games album - 'documentary' was it ? also love Kanye West.

Chose my first album for today, The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead.

@ Whoever said Thnks Fr Th Mmrs sounds like P!atd
I'm assuming you mean I Write Sins Not Tragedies by Panic! At The Disco, I see the slight resemblance, but it really doesn't sound the same..

The Fall Out Boy album is absolutely fantastic, except for probably "Golden"...

How the f*ck did Panic! win Worst Band award on the NME's... The Feeling are absolute f*cking sh*t and I wish they would f*cking die, I actually hate them, they're just so, Arrghhhhh!

And, @ Whoever said Sam's Town is awful
It's admittedly nowhere near as good as Hot Fuss, although I wouldn't say I don't like it, still some of their flair is there...

And finally, The Kaiser Chiefs new album is brilliant, well worth £6.97 from Tesco :D Everything Is Average Nowadays has already got stuck in my head, along with a few others, amazing how they kept up the hype after Employment!

Obviously it's all opinion and I have nothing against mainstreamism (I <3 Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse), but I just feel Oasis made one good album and followed it up with the same album just far worser versions of it. The latest album was shambolic, Lyla and Let there be Love were cringeworthy. With me it's all about variety from bands...:).
