In Nme and Q album reviews it was talking about MCR becoming more commercial and with there new work was influenced by Queen and Pink Floyd. I don't think that on the basis of Welcome to the Black Parade they have that influence.

why isnt every type of music classed as 'emo' then? its short for emotional and every type of music is emotional in its own way.
Emo is a slang term used to describe a range of fashion styles and attitudes somewhat affiliated with emo music and its related scene. As an adjective, emo can describe a style of fashion or music; or a general state of unhappiness or melancholy (as in "to feel emo"), as those stereotyped of emo are often unhappy, think they are misunderstood, and may have mild paranoia. Emo is also used as a noun, often pejoratively, to identify a member of the "emo scene" or someone viewed as fitting the "emo" stereotype.
The music term 'emo' was derived from the fact that, on occasion, members of a band would become spontaneously and strongly emotional during performances.
So, going on this definition i.e. a general state of unhappiness or melancholy, that doesn't include every type of music

FYI, I've started spelling my name Thom- like Thom Yorke of Radiohead fame. Speaking of Radiohead, are they not the absolute bestest band since Joy Division? Yes...they are. I've changed the ranking of their albums a bit recently:
OK Computer
Kid A
Amnesiac
Hail to the Thief
The Bends
Their debut doesn't deserve a mention I'm afraid...

Leave the bloke alone, a ''you spelt it wrong'' and something about music would have been nice, not a rant on his spelling.

Ok, this is bugging me, that new Madonna track "Jump".
For the chorus it uses an old tune from that bird that was in Emmerdale recently. It goes like "Baby, im not scared...baby..."
Patsy Kensit wasnt it?
Patsy Kensit and Eighth Wonder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eighth_Wonder) - I remember it was featured on a Now! compilation that I bought at the time. Blimey, nearly 20 years ago...
Anyway - finally got the Yeah Yeah Yeah's recent album this week and it's cracking, and also listening to more American alternative stuff like Califone and Joanna Newsom, and still loving the recent Midlake album.
America is producing far better stuff than the UK at the moment in my opinion. For example, listened to the Holloways new album on Monday and I hoped it would be good but it didn't interest me at all. Perhaps I'm getting too old ;)
Also saw the Guillemots last week and they were brilliant - well worth seeing live. Going to see a Japanese postrock band this week (Mono) followed by an unsigned band that I've been loving for about a year or so now - Maps - in a couple of weeks. Can't wait.

I can see what you mean
The witty lyrics can be good, but I think they are getting boring because so many bands are trying to sound like that. There are too many catchy northern versions of The Libertines, like the Arctic Monkeys, Milburn, Little Man Tate and all of their albums aren't a patch on their demo's because they lose all the raw sounds.

Today I bought four albums( ).
My Chemical Romance-The Black Parade-Not had chance to listen to all of it yet but there's some quality songs: Welcome To The Black Parade, The End and Teenagers.
Milburn-Well Well Well-Very cool album some classy tunes on there. Best songs are: Send In The Boys, Lipstick Licking, Cheshire Cat Smile and 17.
Kasabian-Empire-As for TBP I haven't had a chance to listen to any of it yet apart from Empire and Shoot The Runner; two quality songs.
High School Musical-:o Good album though. Some really good songs such as: Get'ch Head In The Game, What I've Been Looking For, Breaking Free (easily the best song on the album), We're All In This Together and their nod to the more traditional musicals: Stick To The Status Quo.
So yeah, that's what I've been up to today. :)

I think Everybodys Screaming is the worst...
Rooftops is a great gig song, gets everyone pumped up!
And i think their first 2 albums are FAR better, thats the real Lostprophets sound, more raw and heavy. The new album sounds a bit Green Day/Fall out boy/My Chem...a bit emo... :/ But its still good.
Personally my fave songs of the album are...4am forever, Everyday Combat and Cant catch tomorrow.
I cant believe theyre releasing New Transmission as their next single, 4am forever is sooo much better!

Razorlights second album. Didnt think much of it when it first came out but ive been listening to it again quite a lot recently and I now realise that pretty much all the songs on it are catchy as crabs... its just that its too short and has too few songs ...
I love this album, probably my choice for album of the year, I think its going to be remembered as well. A modern classic. track 6 is my fav 'cant stop this feeling ive got'

I have to agree with you there, it is better now that I've listened to it more. But it is way too short for a second album
Nice description of how catchy it is ;)

If you like The Jam, get some Style Council and Paul Weller solo stuff
The Style Council is slightly more experimental but its good and the solo stuff is really good, I still need to get myself some of the albums though!

That's where I get most my music from nowadays - been a member for about seven months now, on the 90 downloads a month for £15 plan. It works out as an album for around £2 which is fantastic value - and it's all legal.
I'm loving the iLIKETRAINS mini-album - even though they're from Leeds I had never got around to listening to them. But was blown away by the tunes when I finally downloaded it from emusic last week.
Today's emusic album download - to be decided, between Duke Special or Tobias Froberg.
And going to see Maps tonight - been talking these up for about a year now and finally going to see them. Hopefully they should make the breakthrough in the next six months or so...

The Long Blondes - Someone to drive y home - This rocks! And does so like a sexy feline thing. The forumer who said he's not impressed by it a few days ago should have his ears surgically cleaned!!!
Beck -The Information - After years of producing ok albums Beck surprises once more with something which looks like it can be compared to Odelay. Yeah!!!!
I Killed the zeitgeist- Nicky Wire - More than a stopgap till the next Manics lp, this is reminiscent in tone of THE HOLY BIBLE. Plus that voice is funny.

You should have bought lots of copies and given them to everyone you know for Christmas. It's one of the best presents anyone could possibly receive.
Also, Cansei de Ser Sexy are ace!
