Yeah Larrikin Love's album is quality, very jolly and happy. :D

Another good album is Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly's debut album. Been listenin' to it for a couple of days and its very good and i'd suggest its well worth a listen.

Also can't wait for Klaxons album when it comes out.

Of my recent purchases, the Peter Bjorn and John album is brilliant, one of the best of the year for me. The single Young Folks is great, but there's also some other cracking tunes on there - Swedish indie-pop goodness.

The Yo La Tengo new album is surprisingly good. Always thought a band with the name Yo La Tengo would be a bit sad and anal, but a lot of it is cracking tunes - and at 78 minutes long you get your money's worth from it. Rubbish title for the album though, nearly as bad as the Artic Monkeys' ;)

Also enjoying the Metric album a lot (sounds a bit like Goldfrapp mixed with the Breeders) - US/Canadian indie-pop with a harder edge. The lead singer, Emily Haines has a great voice and she's also got a solo album out next week that, from what I've heard of it over the past few weeks, might nudge my top five at the end of the year. It's mostly acoustic mixed with her great voice, it's depressing tunes, it's brilliant.

Metric are on tour next month so I've got tickets for them, along with going to see Peter, Bjorn and John next week in York.

Been really into the Lostprophets lately...but ive noticed something...

Their first album is more Metal, but not full on metal like if you get me, its defo the heaviest album (Shinobi vs Dragon, Kobraki, Fake Sound of Progress etc..)

Their second album is slightly more mainstream and is not as heavy and raw. Probably my fave album of theirs actually.

Then recently ive bought their 3rd album (Liberation transmission) and its gone slightly "emo" i can hear bits of Green Day and Fall out Boy in there :( But its still good...hope they dont get any more emo tho :( *slits wrists out of pure depression*

Also finally bought The Kooks album and Razorlights new one. Both pretty damn good.

Lostprophets have lost their way since their first album, they are too "safe" now, there's none of the energy or rawness in their songs anymore.

They've earned their money by selling out this way, but they were a good band when they were first around.

They played a gig the same night as lost prophets around here... Fan Base at LP = 11 year old emo's. More of a crowd and an atmospere at Fratelli's, less sheep antics too.

For some good metal check out, Death Done Twice, Upon Bitter Ground, Callous. Cant beat a bit of metal can ya ;)

OK Computer isn't even Radiohead's best album ;)

Anyway, absolutely loving the Midlake - Trials of Van Occupanther - at the moment. It's American college rock/indie stuff that sounds exactly like mid-70s middle of the road rock (Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young etc). Sounds terrible in theory - it's brilliant though. Really good - it should make my top ten of the year, easy.

Also listening to The Killers new one - it's pretty good but it's no Hot Fuss.

Empire by Kasabian has grown on me a lot - its much more substantial than their debut but the combination of rock and dance that they attempt sometimes does come across as a bit gormless.

Get Cape Wear Cape Fly's newie is quite good in a mellow sort of way.

Sparklehorse's Dreamt for Lightyears ... (produced by Danger Mouse of Gnarls Barkley but sounding nothing like that) is gorgeous.

Listened to a few of the Sparklehorse album the other day - not bad at all. I've only got one Sparklehorse album previously (Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot - great album title!) but this new one seems a goodie.

Just downloading the new album from Springsteen-'rawk'-soundalikes The Hold Steady - initial impressions sound like I'll be belting these songs out tonight ;)

Sorry, didn't mean to offend. Personal opinion like. Don't get me wrong I can quite happily whack on their CD and give it a whirl, and by joe it puts a smile on my face, but it's just not my bag. I preferr something with a bit more grit, bit of rock and roll, not this twingy twangy happy dappy summertime feel good melodies. Just saying that though, I'm seriously loving 'The Magic Numbers' at the moment, and if that's not the pinicle of twingy twangy happy dappy summertime feel good melodies then I'm a romanian refugee called Clarance.

Saying that, I've got both the albums, clearly visible in my CD rack not hidden away like some of my others, so I'm not ashamed.

I personally hated Queen, and to date don't own a single one of their albums (and could quite possibly turn the radio over if one of their songs were to come on), but I don't disagree that they were an immensily popular band, with a very large following so I accept that I'm in the minority in this case, and I'll hold my hands up.

I never said that they were crap, they've gotta be doing something right (as you quite correctly say) to be one of the top selling artists of the year. I personally don't think that they have got the longlivitally (sp?) that will see them continue in this vein after this 'scene' dissolves and another one appears - only time will tell though.

Also, there's this bird who sits infront of me here at work, who has 'she moves in here own way' as her ring tone, I don't like this girl for various reasons, and every time her phone rings (quite often I may add!) I only get to hear the first 1/2 verse which is starting to grate me a little.

The Cure are NOT underrated ... its just that most people on the forum are too young to remember them: Disintegration, The Head on the Door and Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me are all major classics which I unreservedly recommend.

I don't think Moggsy is yet, sure he's living the unmarried life to the full, whereas i've got married this year (to Nichola Owl on the forum!) and RG did the right thing last year!

I've been listening to Pantera lately...and fking Hostile.....what a song
