It seems strange that a company like Codemasters would not wait until this version was completly developed rather than release a non-compatible Live version and then release a new version down the track.

I preordered the original version and picked it up on release date, now i am told that in order to play LIVE I need to spend another $100 and get basically the same game with Live access. Even if this part of the game wasn't developed, why couldn't an update feature be built in and downloaded (Not unlike Splinter Cell etc). I feel as though I have been completly ripped off for being a loyal customer to Codemasters.

Perhaps a trade-in/trade-up option could have been made available, IE send in your game and $30 and get a copy of the new version.

At least when Microsoft dropped the price of Xbox they offered a loyalty pack...

acctually i agree matey ...

I brought an Xbox in late june and V8RD for Xbox. The entire reason I got an Xbox is because the poor ol PC cant cope with it, and I wanted to play the game so desperately.

So thats the end of june ... now its September (3 months later) and I find out I need to buy the same game with the added 'xbox' live feature just to race it online.

I do agree with the trade in idea, otherwise wait till April 2004 (7 months time) and get V8RD 2 - it'll have xbox live on it
