i bought cmr 2 - bestsellers !!

always when i wanted to play (online or not) i got such a nice graphics-stuttering. this time i had a gf3 ti500 and the support said "this game needs alot of system power" :D and so on...

ok, i didnt believe what the support said. now i upgradet to FX 5900 ultra and wanted to play (1024x768 32bit) cmr 2 yesterday online with a friend, but:

hehehe... the stuttering is the same ! weeeeeee...

3dmark 2001 : more then 10000 points
3dmark 2003 : 4987 points

has anyone an idea which program i could uninstall, delete some registry settings or anything else to run this game smooth ?? :D

im out of ideas..

before you ask: Guess what ??? - latest chipset drivers, directx90b, via latency patch, nvidia 45.23, soundbl.5.1 drivers are installed !

please tell me how to run this game without the annoying stuttering!! please !!

Stuttering was always an issue when it was 1st released. IIRC there was a possible workaround (not confirmed) if you reordered your Audio Codecs in Windows. Do a search around and maybe you'll find the specifics - again IIRC it would only make a difference if you have more than one codec that could process the same type of audio stream.

FF also caused the engine to be a bit lumpy as well.

Best of luck.

I had this problem allthe time for years now playing cmr2.
Try this,I found out that worked for me...
On start\run type dxdiag. On the "sound" tab move the slider from full to basic or no accelleration. I did that and the game runs smoothly now. Let me know if ot works for you too

thank you guys for trying to help me.

i had to do a complete format coz i changed my gfx card. your solutions doesnt sound ok for me, a patch, which would fix this would be much easier and better. (i dont play in my system settings just for this or the next game). (btw: i also had email contact with CM support, we tried alot -sending dxdiag, driver install and so on, nothing helped)

i decided NOT to reinstall it. its in the box now. maybe ill sell it.

thx again..

The game is a classic. It's worth a little effort to get running well. Did you actually try anything that was suggested? You gave hardly any information in your post - perhaps you only have a '56K' modem? Who knows and now who would care?

With your attitude, you're not likely to play many games on a PC. Why not throw it out and get yourself a console...

hmm...

what do you think ? you think i didnt try all to get this game running ?
i play igi2 too and i have cmr3 and i know codemasters problems. when you buy a car, do you want to drive with it or do you want to repair it first ?
im 100% sure its an engine problem in cmr2. i play ut2003 and alot of other games without problems. the support told me to run msconig, edit in there, play in dxdiag, drivers and so on. nothing fixed this problem. a friend is able to run this game on maxed settings, and he has a gf2. the game just dont like some hardware, coz my system is ok for all games i have installed!
when i hear solutions like "delete this..","change this in dxdiag"... i wonder why no other game-manufacturer wanted me to do this. (they just release a patch to fix if there is a known problem)

cmr3 runs smooth, so why is cmr2 stuttering? i dont think it is my system !

i wonder on which OS Codemasters is testing their games...

btw: in cmr2 folder i find under tracks 1 folder called Japan, but only 3mb in it. ingame there is no Japan track, also with cheats there is no Japan. anyone know something about this ?

i also found a folder called "Replays", how can i save a replay to watch when i want to ?

First please tell me why CMR2 reboots my comp for no reason, it happens often. sometimes ingame, sometimes before the white "Pink" screen comes.

cpu temp is normal at 41°, just checked. all drivers installed and the 2 codemaster games (igi2 + cmr2) are the only games which crash to desktop or reboot for no reason. weird...
