one of the most important traits for a hunter is determination as it gives agility bonus and that is our primary stat, the other ones for virtues really depend on what stats you want, but agaility and vitality are always good, I personaly use charity for the wound resistance, but others i know stack poison or disease instead.
For race traits....what race are you?
Class traits, the improved tracking is a must, imo the best trait that hunters have, also enduring precision is very useful as when in precision stance it adds 1 to your focus every 5 seconds...you'll very rarely run out, the other slots again are personal preference depending on what specials you favour, for example i use penetrating shot every other shot so i have both traits that add bonuses to this special.
Legendary traits, our class quest trait is currently not available as one of the drop items is not in game yet but should be added with the evendim update, bards arrow is very useful as it causes your target to run away for 10 seconds and only has a 30 second cool down however it cannot be used against monster players, rain of thorns is very very good in MP, it is exactly the same as hail of arrows but also roots all the targets it hits...good for taking out those pesky wargs! on the move is a 3000 morale and power heal but there are a lot of restrictions on when and infact where you can use it, i personaly am already using bards arrow and will be using rain of thorns when i finish collecting all the pages.
Hope this has helped, and happy hunting!

elf hunter, well in that case, elf bow damage (only if you use bows though, this has no effect on xbows) the sylvan stealth can be very useful all be it very slow, return to rivendell untill you get to lvl 46 when you get your hunter skill to rivendell which is way better, eldars grace is very nice if your in a tight spot, and sword damage if you use swords

Just gonna try to give some advice/start a discussion on virtues.
Determination gives max +21 agility, Merciful +5, Tolerant +9. So Determ. is ok to get (although 21 isn't really that much either), don't bother about the other 2.
When i started doing the high level group instances, i noticed what i'm really missing is power/power regen. I was oom after almost every trash mob group, and had way to less power to keep up high dps throughout an entire boss fight.
So i thought i'd focus my virtues on wisdom/power regen ooc, and my gear on agility/power regen in combat. Sadly there are no virtues that give power regen in combat, only ooc.
So my virtues look like this right now, although i might swap 1 regen one for determination, once i maxed it out:
Wisdom
Confidence
Charity
Patience
Valour (for 4.8 morale regen ooc and +187 morale, kickass trait imo)
