Where should I be looking to putting stats into on a hunter to make him better?

What stats does he need more of thatn others?

Sorry for the noob question.

the obvious reply of "agility" as number 1 springs to mind :) (but for groups/raids this will also mean more damage-control due to aggro)

Then again, I am a very young hunter (lvl+-20) so I am not sure how they have to played in the later game.

I would go for agility 1, willpower & power for those prolonged fights

1 - Agility
2 - Stamina
3 - Might
4 - Will
5 - Fate

Meh, the stats hunters need never changes in any MMO.

how many ways are there to affect your stats?
> equipment
> buffs (food, spells)
> ???

.....and traits (accomplishments, finding places in each area, killing x number of mobs, etc.)

Gained through you deeds panel and some quests...like the level 15 hunter quest gives you a race deed modifier thingy....

Stats , equips : Agility , morale/power in combat reg , vitality
Traits : Tolerance , Justice , Valour , Determination ,Loyalty ( will switch this with idealism if they fix fate which is broken right now.).

imo these are best configurations for a hunter.

Hunters are the Nukers so for raiding i woujld have thought that Fate would be more important for increased Crit Chance.

Is fate broken then?

Also does higher crit chance = higher aggro?

I THINK aggro is directly related to the amount of damage dealt (I used to draw insane agro back when I used to spam bow skills like there was no tomorrow), so if you crit more then I imagine you would draw more.

also depends on what class/race traits you have equipped. if you have precise strikes then every crit is +1 focus. your playstyle also determines gear/traits. i have solo gear that is very high agility and group gear which has more vit, simple things like gondorian swords with 16 agi each versus vit + weapons

I have one charater so far in LOTRO (this is also the first MMORPG i've wanted to play) and he is an Elf Hunter currently at lvl 12, and i have a couple of newbie questions?

1 - When spending Destiny points on abilities, are these abilities only available for a short time and a limited number of uses?

2 - When i lay a trap it lasts for just one attack then the enemy is moving towards me again (not much of a trap as far as i'm concerned)

3 - I'm still in Erin Lund (spelling maybe off) and for some reason i'm a lower level than everyone else, even thoiugh i'm upto the same missions/tasks.
Is this just due to them going round killing bears etc?

Sorry for the Newbie questions :)

Yes, the destiny perks are purchased using your destiny points and work for a certain amount of time. I only tried it once with the extra XP gain. Personally I didn't use them as there are enough mobs to kill for XP.

2 - When i lay a trap it lasts for just one attack then the enemy is moving towards me again (not much of a trap as far as i'm concerned)

Well, a mob can break free from a trap. At the more higher level it might just be that your basic trap won't even trap the mob. But if you lay enough traps for your enemies, you'll get a trait called "Sturdy Traps". This trait makes it so your enemies won't break free so easily.
Also, if you place more aggro of the mob, it will come towards you. A good tactic for using traps is to draw two with one being in the trap and you fighting the other.

It possible the others kill everything they meet on their way to a quest location and do the same on there way back to the quest giver. It's a valid way of playing (I do this myself too :D ) and it makes you level a bit faster. Don't worry about being a lower level class. If you play your class correctly, level hardly matters. ;) Especially if it's one or two levels below the others in your group. :)
