Simple, do I take Woodsman to make my own Bows ect or Weaponsmith to make my own traps?

What you think?

I've gone with Armsman for the traps. The way I see it is that a good bow will last you a fair few levels, where as traps are consumables that you will keep using no matter what level you are. With armsman you still get Woodworker so can still craft the bows, you just need somebody else to provide you with the materials.

so you r still gonna need to buy lots and lots of wood to get trough the crafting tiers to make yourself good bows
so you either need friends to provide you with wood or play a second char that can collect wood

imho its more useful to go woodsman and get your own wood + make your own bows since the free trap skill is more than enough. i dont even use traps that often. with a good bow your dps will be so high that a right combination of special attacks (and a tiny bit of luck so you dont miss too much ^^) will make your enemies drop dead within 5-10 seconds of reaching you. (at least that is my experience with my lvl 22 hunter on equal lvl enemies)

if you really want those crafted traps then imho its better to ask a weaponsmith friend to make you some or get a second char to get the ores and give them to a weaponsmith friend or kinship member to make you traps

a good bow is a lot more valuable than an endless amount of crafted traps

I'm personally not gonna bother with the woodsman part at all but yeh if you choose armsman and want to level woodworker then you need to get your wood from either an alt, a generous friend, or you need to splash the cash and buy it.

I personally don't see much benifit in having woodsman purely for the reason of crafting your own bows. Each new bow will most likely last a few levels, so its no real pain to buy one (or loot one) every so often. Although traps are not an essential bit of kit, I have found them to be a useful extra trick for when things don't go according to plan. I tend to solo a fair bit and the multi-traps come in very handy for agro management on multiple mobs.

The other option is to make an alt and then choose both Armsman and Woodsman!

I think a good idea initially would be to buy a few traps and see if they fit into your playing style and then make the decision from there.

get explorer and let some other woodworker / armsmen craft your stuff.

why ?
because you need tons of wood to be master in each rank to craft a good bow for your level.

im a lvl 28 hunter and woodworker too
im not able to craft a good bow that is better than quest rewards / random drops because i dont have the rare purple recipes or the rare beastdrop (from the named beasts).

buying resources from auctionhouse is too expensive.

maybe its getting better at high levels....
