The arrows for my hunters bow seem unlimited is this correct? It seems a little unrealistic if that is the case.

Yes you are correct, but later on you can choose eg. fire to add to your arrows.... and that costs money :)

You know that I was thinking about that the last time I was watching LotR? How is it with Legolas? He always has them...

He was obviously in the boy scouts - 'be prepared' ;).

he got his arrow making badge as a young elf :o
he chopped rowan trees and carved arrows faster than the naked eye could see

It is quite interesting because in the books there are various points that say about Legolas being out of arrows and needing to get some eg. taking some from dead orcs, getting given them in Lorien (which he uses up by ther time they finish the Parth gelen battle and getting them at Helms Deep.

Didn't Legolas always carry with him his 'Quiver of un-ending arrows? '. Which I believe was a loot drop from the Meatlump king.

this is an interesting post hmm. I reckon that hunters should keep unlimited arrows (my wow days as a hunter haunt me :P) but perhaps like with fire/light arrows we could also purchase permenant upgrades to our arrows. say:

Black-flight Arrow: Increases your ranged damage by +1.

Lorien Enchanted Flights: Your auto shot works 0.2 seconds faster and your ranged damage is increased by +2.

And so on.. But then we can loot corpses of other hunter-killed enemies and take an arrow for use on our next shot, so if a hunter has the best arrows purchased, we can take 1 from his enemy's corpse and use it for our next shot.

Also perhaps goblin/orc looted arrows could be found too, so we always have unlimited arrows, but we have some options about how we use them.

I just thought of a cool skill too. Say for level 30.

Suprise Shot: You pull one of your previous arrows from the enemy, booting him away from you and firing the shot in mere seconds.

Meant for close range, could be nice as a last finishing blow or something ^^

Thing is, if you have arrow ammo cost, you either have them very cheap/easy to get hold of (so why bother) or expensive (the only class that needs to pay just to make auto-attacks). As far as how much ammo you can carry, you either have so much that you never run out (so why bother), or hunters are the only class that stops being able to fight half-way through an adventure.

I think the system where you can use physical special arrows for special occasions, but unlimited standard arrows generally, isn't too bad really, even if it isn't entirely realistic.

Thats not in the books, only in the RPG game

I remember the early days of EQ on my rogue who used to pull with bow.I had my arrow making kit on me and the ingredients were so heavy I used to have to make the arrows to lighten my weight problem or I would be forced to run back to East Commonlands to sell. Everywhere you went you had to memorize where all the vendors were to avoid running about looking in every small hut.

Then there was the added problem of faction and them killing you on sight for some poor infraction on your part like the murder of a brother or two. Not all the vendors and sometimes I would forget which one and they would hit like a tonne of bricks. Occasionally the griffon would swoop in while you were doing your shopping to kill you in one swipe. Ahh the memories.....

All that micromanagement has come in handy in other games.
