Not seen an arrow counter anywhere, nor needed to buy arrows. So that'll be a yes.

...and before someone asks:
No, you wont see any quivers on players. :(
Only on NPCs.

I know what you are saying but I just don't think its realistic enough not to have to buy or craft arrows.

I don't think it's neccasary for even rp:ers to buy arrows.

As drifting said, it's a hell to run out of arrows in a boss fight :)

Yeah the amount of times I'd run out of arrows during xp party in FFXI. I tended to some crafting items with me and then make my own. Also making my own saved a hell of alot of gil. <.<;

They should probarly make different types of arrows for us to use. Like upgrades in away permenant ones though like it does +x amount extra damage but still aloow us to switch arrow types if need be.

As has been said in many other posts, this game needs to reflect realism; where is the realism in an unending arrow supply?

A good hunter would manage his arrow supply, make sure he's fully equipped etc. before going into battle.

A quiver, again, would add to the realism of the game.

just my 2¢ :D

If it needs to reflect realism, my target should fall down shortly after the first arrow hits...

Multiple shots or multiple attacks from a Champion's weapons would not be necessary...in the real world.

The decision to not include arrows is a design decision, one which you can agree or disagree with. However, do not apply the laws of our reality to it. What perhaps matters most is this: Do any other classes have to spend money to do their jobs? Do minstrels and loremasters have to buy scrolls from which they sing their songs or cast their spells? Do Champions and Guardians have to spend money on sharpening stones and repair hammers to maintain their gear? (Yes, I know there's durability...but a Hunter loses durability on his bow when he fires just as much as a Champion does when he swings his swords). Anyway, you get the idea. Its a question of balance.

I have to disagree with you, in my opinion, a true hunter would be limited to the number of arrows he could use, and manage the success of his hunting around his ability to manage this restriction in either carrying or using those arrows. It adds a little more 'thinking' into the playmanship of the game, instead of just point-shoot.

This is how I see it!

The main problem with realism, is that it can quite easly unbalance the game.

The Hunter class has to be every bit, as playable as the all the others.

With a crafting system that seems to work well, it would be a shame to start changing things so soon. You could stiffle the craft system, by making people spend hours having to make arrows, instead of enjoying the game.

Then, when people stop playing Hunters, you can have Lore Masters use scrolls, and when the number of those declines too, so you have to come up with something similar for all the other classes. Meanwhile, other people just stop playing, It has happend time and time again, with many other MMO's, no names mentioned, but i'm sure most of you can think of a few!

As I said at the start, this is just MY view, on a subject that can never be sovled!

I'm happy to just think of it in a way that my Hunter goes and makes arrows whilst i'm logged out, along with pee-ing, shaving, washing etc :)

I think its big releif not having to worry about arrows. You hardly get enough money to buy all your skills (at least as far as i've got 15th) (and I've spent no money on crafting) without having to keep restocking arrows. As for realism well err orks, elves and trolls. Don't see many of them about these days. How about having to eat and drink every 4-5 hours or maybe even get some sleep, don't remember LOTR mentioning that the fellowship were all crack head amphetamine users. :-p

Just about every other game has you worrying about micro managing arrows which really does nothing for game play and infact just is inconvienient as someone else said. Also how many hundreds of arrows did legolas fire off although only carrying one quiver with what looks like 15-20 arrows. I don't recall this from the books.....

Gimli: yarrrr yarr hump hump 53.
Legolas: squeak squeak 47... err... damn anyone got any spare arrows...Tolkein didn't bother to restock me with arrows back at Bree.
Gimli: yarrr yarrr hump hump 54.
Legolas to Uruk: ummm I don't suppose we can talk about this???
Gimli: Yarrr Yarr hump hump 55.
Legolas: ***squish***

Craft arrows? Buy arrows? Are you crazy? With this economy?

We'd be bankrupt every hour or so!!!

Besides, where is the fun in running out of arrows in the middle of nowhere while hunting? I've seen it happen before, and no matter how good you plan your expeditions it might happen to anyone. Trust me, we are way better off this way.

If hunters need to buy arrows, other players should buy more weapons in case they broke (not talking about durability here). And minstrels should tune their instruments before every other fight

I'd happily buy arrows if it only took one to kill or incapicate my target like in real life.

If I wanted realism I'd be out in the woods with a bow, not sitting at a computer desk.

I'm playing a game because I want a game. :D

It's a game of hobbits, elves, trolls and wizards. And you're worrying about not having actual arrows affecting the "realism" of your experience? ;)

Fun factor > realism in mmorpg genre get over with it...

But, but...

For (pointless) realism, you could just say your hunter retrieves the arrows from the corpse when you loot. Discounting any miss, unless you fancy drifting your imagination as far as searching for the missing arrows. :)

I don't think you could carry many more than (at a guess) 50 arrows in a very large quiver anyway, so you'd have to recycle if you planned anything more than a minor trip. Or have an arrow caddy, oh a new job! I can see them now with big golf bag sized quivers on wheels. Why should just Captains get a helper, heh. :p
