Hello there,
I first started playing DDO Stormreach and did not realise that most players on Dorn would be German. I have no issues with it really even though I am English, everyone I have met has been very friendly, and only too willing to communicate in English. I have had some excellent adventures with my new German friends.

However, where I am having problems is that most of the messages on the messageboards here are in German. I can speak some German and understand German people speaking, however I can not read German. So I do not know a lot of what is being said or where to post messages.

What I am looking for is to join a guild on the Dorn Server that would not mind talking in English. The times I am on veary quite a lot but I am often on for many hours at a time especially in the middle of the night. I am very friendly and always share my treasure instead of selling it.
So if you are a guild leader and would like to have either:
(JONTY) a level 2 Human Fighter
(BRADMAN) a level 1 Human Paladin
(GOUGH) a level 1 Human Cleric
(PIETERSEN) a level 1 Human Wizzard
(NASSER) a level 1 Human Sorcerer
in your guild please reply to this message.

Thank you for your time.

JONTY

P.S. I am selling some items in the trade thread

Yeah I here ya. We, a group of about 6 Scottish mates, joined Dorn as well without the full knowledge of the German majority which considering we really only play solidly one night a week doesn't tend to pose a problem.

Myself and a couple of the others tend to log on a bit more frequently than that and haven't really found any problems in grouping with predominately German groups. In fact...I've found that most the groups I've been in have made more an effort to understand me and work well together than I did on an English-speaking WOW server. Go figure.

The only real issue for me is the lack of trade available as the forum is really the only trade channel we have (considering pawn shops are often on too short a timer to be useful) and as seen...it's predominately in German which I cannot read. Even trying to ascertain what is being said by looking for key names or words doesn't work...I can't make sense out of any of it, but that's not a crucial gameplay issue.

I completely understand what you mean...that is one of the reason why I thought about that..in the mean time you might be interested to know that one of the guilds organized an auction evening tomorrow in the rusty nail. from 5pm CET you can give items for auctioning and from 6pm CET the official auction starts...I think that is a great event. I just mention that because you mentioned you're troubles regarding trading etc.

I would also offer here to you and your friend that if you have any forum stuff that you don't understand entirely feel free to send me the text to my email the_cyl@hotmail.com I gladly translate that for you and your mates.

once the ingame email system is up and running feel free to drop any stuff there too..I am glad to help if I can.

I also want to agree on what you said about the poeple on dorn and that they are always very nice to non german speaking folks I think that is realy great and you usualy dont see that on other servers where it is the other way around...so thanks to all for that..

So keep in touch mate and enjoy gaming :) Hope to meet you in the game one day soon

ahh thanks bud. But to be honest I wouldn't even know where to start ;) I can't even tell (most the time) what the content of the thread is about nevermind pick out what relevant information I may want from it would be. :P

Will just have to resign myself to ingame trades through situational meetings etc.

Face to face is always better anyway
