today i finally received my copy of OFPDR (imported version, therefore a bit late) and started to play the campaign. hardcore of course. the first two or three attempts i just played around a bit. then i restarted and wanted to accomplish all objectives.
i always spawned looking north, so i though there might be the main objective, as i could not make out any significant objective marker on the map (oh well, maybe its the circled 1, but i didnt recognize it).
moving north-east i first destroyed the anti-ship-missile, then headed west and took out the guys at the helicopter. i then moved north searching for the damn radar and found some tower on the north-west which i destroyed. no reaction from mission panel whatsoever.
meanwhile it was getting dark and i headed south to check whether i overlooked something. the chinese in the hut / with the jeep managed to kill all my beloved men during their assault on the building. i had to clean the mess up and move on alone.
moving south i suddenly became some radio-information about reinforcements and a helicopter dropped 2 squads. i headed towards them hoping i could fill up my fireteam

but one squad just stand there in the dark waiting for something to happen. the other slowly moved down the hill to the village and i assisted them to kill all the enemies down there. once cleared, the first squad still stand motionless on top of the hill. (BUG?)
i began to understand that the first objective must be the two radio towers on the hill south-east and began to climb. shame on me i died when entering a hut trying to clear it of 2 PAL-guys. mission failed. damn.
what i want to express with this report: it doesnt feel like theres a combat going on around you if you dont do whats expected by the mission maker. if i didnt remember the hill/village out of all the vids i still might be clearing the whole island without artillery support
other things which where already mentioned 1000 times here in the forum:
- not being able to move while giving commands was really annoying
- the FOV is quite narrow especially when driving vehicles
- no freelook for driver was really bad too
- my mousewheel stopped working in the middle of the mission (maybe because of switching to WIN though
btw the game is playable on my 3800+ dualcore w/ 7600 GT which i didnt expect. new rig already planned though.
